It's hard to believe that a book so small, can be one of the best tarot books on my shelf, but that's the way it is. Not only some excellent descriptions for each card, but lots of usefull info regarding technique.

Quite a handy little reference book for the tarot student. Some nice card interpretations and spreads. Would recommend it to the novice reader. What a gem! :)

concise, comprehensive, accurate, pocket sized 14 Mar. 2011

This tarot book is the one I find myself turning to on a regular basis. It is small enough to fit into the bag with the cards and has a comprehensive coverage of topics including a short history, numerology, significator cards, major and minor arcana, symbology and spreads. It incorporates chracteristics attributed by suit: fire, water etc. as well as age, gender, feminine, masculine, and astrological sign. I have literally dozens of tarot books and this one does not contradict any of the interpretations for general meanings of the cards; allows you to interpret "between the lines" of the general meanings but still hit the "gist" of the cards. One very useful element of the interpretation is to id in 2-3 words the "key theme" of the card as well as a key theme if the card is reversed (if you use reversals). This helps greatly with remembering a cards intent as you can then string the key elements together to get a framework for an overall comprehensive spread interpretation. Because it is so small, it gets used quite often as it is literally taken with me and the cards everywhere. Buy this used if you have to; but it's a workhorse-keeper!

One of the best and simpliest books on Tarot I seen 1 Jun. 2014

One of the best books on Tarot I seen. I ordered this one as replacement for one I had. I bought it couple years before and loved it but lost so decided to replace. Spreads and explanations in this book are straightforward and practical without overload of useless information. This book was enough to start business of Tarot reading. Used spreads to predict stuff to people. I have bad memory so I had this comfortable little book in my hands at all time to uncover meaning of spreads. People were negative initially about of me being bad Tarot reader because I had to have this book but when all predictions came true in short period of time and with complete accuracy I had a lot of customers returning. The fact that book is very small allows easily find very quickly all necessary information. Spreads are very clever and designed. awesome book to help open business of Tarot reading in person because it allows to deeply see into problem and give detailed predictions that have shocking accuracy. Spreads in book are very clever built, require time and thoughts, and give very accurate predictions so person will not be ashamed in front of customers if reads in person. This book is not as helpful for people who want to read Tarot on the phone because since it takes time to put out quality spread it is not practical to use this book on the phone with because time on the phone is very limited and spreads in this book are very deep so quick response is not possible. In other words this book is directed on quality predictions and at the same time it is best book to learn Tarot for people who are not very detail-oriented and prefer simple practical functional solutions and straightforward explanations without complications and too much irrelevant information.

Good quality pocket-sized Marseille book 12 Aug. 2012

It's just what the title says, a good Marseille reference text. I bought the first edition which is surprisingly well bound, with a resilient plastic-coated paperback cover, and will stand up to lots of wear or travel. This is a useful text for those who are interested in the TdM, but aren't looking to read 400 pages or the usual writers. If you are looking for discussion of chart details, look elsewhere. If you want a great little guide and quick reference to TdM, you won't be disappointed.

couldn't put it down 11 Jan. 2008
By merlot - Published on
Format: Paperback
i'm new to tarot reading but i couldn't put this one down. it was interesting and detailed but not big and overwhelming. it's so small you could take it anywhere. i wasn't intimidated by it and it made me want to learn more. the descriptions are in-depth and not fluffy but there are also key words to help you get it. it talks about meaning of the cards being upright and reversed(which i understand some people don't bother with). you won't be sorry to have this one in your collection.
