As someone who hasn't studied French since GCSE, which was about 10 years ago, this served as something of a good refresher course, but didn't really push my knowledge any further on.
If you have any knowledge at all of French, then the first disc is a complete waste of time, but the second and third discs are ok for a bit of brushing up. The course is aimed at total beginners, and as such it does its job very well. It's quite slow, but after each unit you can't really help but have learned the material. It's presented well, and in realistic enough situations with native speakers.
The course is heavily geared towards providing people with some useful phrases and vocab for a visit to France, rather than with a real grounding for real study of the language, and if you are anywhere beyond total beginner level then this course will be a complete waste of time for you. However, if you are a total beginner, then I think you will struggle to find a better course at a better price.

Having learnt French from the age of 11 to 15 and forgetting it all by the age of 30 I wanted to brush up on my basics, I figured the easiest way would be to put this onto my iPhone and make it more usable than being limited to being near a CD player. I found that the booklet itself that comes with the three discs to be as useful as the discs but is easy to misplace due to its small size.
I feel that this is ok as a refresher course but probably quite good for complete beginners. Having already learnt these basic phrases I found that the CD's really weren't what I was expecting and similar things are now available straight onto iPhone / MP3 Players.
If you are completely new to the French language this is a good place to start out, you will hear good French accents and pick up the basics in hours, although there are plenty of other ways to learn the same basics the price tag is great.

I wanted a language course for driving to and from work as i have half an hour journeys and this is perfect. Its a good speed to help you remember, and while it starts off slow for the beginner it quickens pace relatively quickly and refers you back to certain tracks if its moving too fast, so avoids being too repetative. It doesnt go into alot of detail with spelling and grammer as its audio, but if you complete this course it will make these areas alot easier to learn because it helps you really understand the language. As far as audio courses go without being able to see text and verb tables this is brilliant. Three CD's.
