I bought it for my dad aged 86 who first saw a copy here belonging to my son aged 27 so it certainly suits all ages.

3.0 out of 5 stars Compact, informative but not error-free 21 Nov 2007
There are frequent inconsistencies in this book - apparent even to someone who has never studied the subject in detail despite claiming it is designed for students. It seems not to have been properly checked, and that is not me being pedantic.

Apart from that it is very interesting and gives a very broad and brief view of human history from the origins of civilisation right up to today's spectacular, globalised society.

2.0 out of 5 stars Surprise purchase 23 April 2010

I searched for two books and added them to the shopping cart. Then I searched for this atlas but decided not to buy it -- it seemed expensive. The first two books arrived in a week, then surprise!! This atlas arrived another week later, with strange wording in the bill of lading. Since I hadn't tried to order it, I began to think it was a gift from someone I do business with, but eventually it did get charged to my account.

The second surprise was that it was a paperback, whereas I was familiar only with the hardback version. I guess I assumed it was hardback because of the high price. And I didn't check out all the details on the information page because I had lost interest with the high price.

I guess there's a lesson -- don't ever put something in the shopping cart thinking you can delete it later. The deletion may not work.
