Even at full price this book is an essential purchase for anyone practicing drawing and painting. Packed with information; clearly laid out, and well printed, at Amazons price this is a bargain.One or two small quibbles (the Directory is out of date for one), do not detract from its five star status.

The Artist's Manual is a great book for the budding artist. It show you all the techniques that you will need to know from oils, sketching, pastels; the list is endless. Sometimes in this book they give step by step peices of art work that you can do, one of them is making your own canvas. Overall this book is brilliant for the beginner or someone who needs to find more information for their art work.

As I also own Angela Gair's "Watercolour Question and Answer Book", I am already a fan. "Artist's Manuel" is easy to follow, which is especially important when one is in a hurry. It is well illustrated with useful examples, and doesn't resort to the dreaded step-by-step demonstration!
