I'm finding it really hard to write this as I'm not sure what word to describe this book. It was.......amazing, fantastic! I have never been in to sci fi before and to be honest I wouldn't have read it if it wasn't free as I'm nit keen on sci fi. But I'm so glad I read it as I found it really hard to put down and I just loved it! I have already bought the rest of the series and can't wait to get started. I have definitely changed my opinion of sci fi books.

Again I'm out of my comfort zone with a Sci-Fi and what an amazing experience it's been. I loved Merrick and Shelly's characters, both well written and... (I'd like to say believable but he's an alien!) I was completely engrossed in this story so much so that I actually had a nightmare over it. This is just fantastic and I can't wait to read more and see how it all ends.

I have quite a few other books in my review pile but I figured that since I don't have tons to say about this one I'll do a mini review.

I love Shelly Crane's Significance series so she's pretty much an author that makes it onto my auto-buy list. Collide is about Sherry, a nineteen year old girl, who is trying to avoid her abusive ex-boyfriend who is stalking her and move through her boring life, not going how she planned. Then mysterious people or aliens begin appearing. Her ex-boyfriend shows up claiming that he died and that he is her brother's guardian angel of sorts. He calls himself Merrick and says he is a Keeper. Merrick convinces Sherry and her brother Danny that the end of the world is coming and because Danny is a Special, someone destined to do something great, he must be kept from the Lighters. This is where I had an issue with the characters. So Merrick looks like Sherry's stalker ex-boyfriend and yet Danny buys the whole the-world-is-ending spiel when his sister is drugged in the back of the car? Now, I would expect my brother (if I had one) to take one look at my ex and tell him to clear off. I mean, really. She's drugged and this guy is claiming he has been possessed (kind of) by a something called a Keeper.

However, despite this I really enjoyed the book. The writing was great and there were quite a few errors but I liked Sherry and Merrick's relationship and the plot was interesting. There was some action, a sweet romance, and it flowed relatively fast. I read this one in about a day, so it's not a heavy, long book. Looking back at the review it seems like there are a lot more negatives than positives, which isn't the case - I just felt I had to mention the above issue. If grammar and writing errors really bother you then I wouldn't recommend this but I liked it :)

Here we meet Sherry and her younger brother Danny, before the moon disappeared they lived with their parents, after this astronomical event happened their parents went off into the deep end, bit of a whack job if you ask me.

This book is fully of sci-fi elements that certainly pulls you in and keeps you intrigued.

Sherry hasn't had the best of times with men and in relationships in the past, main one being Matt.

Matt was horrible to Sherry, constant nagging, such possessiveness and low of the low, he hit her!

What kind of man can do that to someone the proclaim to love?

One day though Sherry she's Matt waiting for her on her front apartment steps, claiming that he wants to take her and Danny far away before the "Beings" come for them, he also proclaims that he isn't Matt and in fact one of those said "beings" called Merrick.

The was Shelly has wrote Sherry's character is beautiful, she is simply amazing. Sherry's honest, caring and willing to help everyone and anyone.
Although Sherry isn't a tough girl her spirit balances this, such a good strong leader.

The relationship that starts to bloom between Merrick & Sherry is soooo heart-warming. I loved it. I fell in love with the sweet, handsome, kind, devoted man called Merrick, I want one :)

Your are thrust into a world that's at war and are relying on "Beings" to help them survive as a family and as a race.

Looking forward to reading the next instalments:
2) Uprising

3) Catalyst

4) Revolution

Sherry, the heroine of this book, has no self-confidence at all. She thinks of herself as plain Jane, not deserving better things in her life. The only thing she finds special about herself is her ability to always know whether people are telling her s truth or a lie. Basically, she is a human lie detector. She lives with her brother Danny, whom she loves dearly. Her ex-boyfriend is one from the nightmare - making fun of her, trying to force her to sex, stalking her constantly. Than one day her ex-boyfriend comes, claiming that he is someone else and that he is here to save her and her brother. That was when things got really interesting...

Collide is very original dystopian-paranormal-alien kind of story. I love Shelly Crane. In every single book I read by this author, she was able to grab my full attention and suck me right into the story. Ant it was the same with this book too. All that "alien" stuff author created in this book was pretty fascinating and exciting to read about. Story was sometimes slow paced but never boring.

I really liked relationship Sherry had with her brother Danny. It is always nice to read about siblings who actually truly love each other. Moreover, Sherry was a very honest person and I liked that about her a lot. The world in this book became a very dangerous place but Sherry always showed her good spirit and I had to admire her for that. Another character whose point of view we get to read int his book, is Merrick. Merrick was not a superhero. On the one side, he had some usefull supernatural abilities but on the other side, he was quite clueless when it came to ordinary life on Earth. Overall, he was very loving, caring and likeable character and he really grew on me while rading this book.

I enjoyed this book immensely and I will definitely continue reading this series.
