Product Description

Product Description

The new 2006 "Collectors' Coins Great Britain" contains, like its predecessors, a complete list of British non gold coins (1797 - 2005) with their varieties listed, values in up to five states of preservation and yearly mintage numbers. For the first time, this edition also includes a wealth of information about the designers of each coin, as well as extra information on the sizes and weights of the coins. The whole book has also been given a stiffer cover with better quality pages and print.

From the Author

The review from C H Perkins (me) that refers to the previous
edition should be removed from this edition because it's mis-leading as the
content was considerably updated for the new edition.

As the author of this book, I felt more details could be added to the Amazon listing, so if Amazon will permit me, I'll explain the contents of the book in more detail:

This is the second Collectors Coins GB that I have been responsible for. The new book contains current market values for all British non gold coins dated 1797 - 2005. It includes all proof coins, and some patterns, as well as separate listings for Maundy and decimal coins. This 33rd annual edition has extra introductions to each coin type, and includes, for the first time, the names of the designers and some useful information about the coins. Many of the pictures have been improved or replaced and a few new images have been added.

Every single coin has been looked at and had its price checked and adjusted (most were adjusted upwards!) The price information was gathered from my own experience dealing in coins, and using a database set up to enable the actual readers/collectors to enter price data for coins they had actually bought, or seen sold. This ensured that the prices are as accurate as possible.

The print quality and cover is a bit better than the previous edition too. If you have any comments about the book, let me know, as I want to ensure it gets a bit better each year.

This book is good reference for coins from 1797 onwards. If you're after values for coins before 1797, then I recommend Coins of England 2009 by Spink. Read more
