Product Description

Product Description

This is the 15th edition of the popular English/British banknote price guide. It is in full colour for the first time. "Collectors' Banknotes" provides valuations for all Bank of England and Treasury banknotes. It also includes information on banknote grading, and background information about some of the major issues. All of the major types are illustrated clearly, as are a number of variety types, e.g. how to spot a Nazi forged white fiver. All of the notes have individual unique reference numbers, and a chart is provided at the back to cross reference these numbers with two other popular banknote books. Also included is a bibliography of suggested further reading, and a list of some banknote dealer websites.

About the Author

Pam West is a leading banknote dealer and has been involved in publishing and assisting with books on the subject for over twenty years. Chris Perkins has been a coin and banknote dealer for a number of years. He exhibits at some major coin fairs and is also involved with BBC 3CR as the numismatic expert on the monthly phone-in.

The guide gives an introduction to banknote grading using a good system to help a beginner understand how this works. It very usefully includes a cross reference list of comparative catalogue numbers to properly identify a particular banknote of interest. It is brilliant, too, that a list of the most established and respected UK dealers is available if one would wish to purchase a banknote; although, I find that cheaper banknotes in poorer grades may be purchased from popular online-auction sites if desired.

I find the guide very accessible, clear and concise containing only essential information. I find it invaluable to use in all cases of quick reference in finding pricing information quickly. The advantage of concise information is that it does not confuse the beginner.

What an improvement! 12 Oct 2005
Format:Paperback
This new 2006 version is so much better than the previous 2004 edition! The images are clearer, the book is perfect bound with a lovely thick cover and slightly glossy pages, and it really does feel better put together than the last. Still under a Fiver too, which surprises me!

The editorial content has also been updated a bit, the font is new and much more readable. The prices have all been amended and this book will, I'm sure, prove handy to keep on my desk or in a large pocket in case I feel the need to buy a banknote!

Well done to the new author, and well done to Rotographic for drastically improving the quality of their recent publications.

Easy money! 18 April 2009
Format:Paperback
'Collectors' Banknotes 2008: Treasury and Bank of Emgland.'(Paperback)
Not being an avid banknote collector but suddenly finding I had inherited a variety of banknotes of all years and countries, it was time to source a guide that would give me a better idea of value for British notes. This book did not disappoint! It is easy to follow, and even more attractive and pleasing to the eye that the photos are in colour.
Only down-side is I have inherited Channel Island notes and as CI comes under Great Britain, though they have their own island governments, it would be a worthy addition to this very resourceful book.
Any chance of this??
