18 of 19 people found the following review helpful By Russell Baker on 5 Feb. 2006
Format: Paperback
I bought this book together with the Medal Yearbook by James Mackay. I was so disappointed with this book that I returned it.
The book is very out of date being published in 1976, (it said a Victoria Cross was worth a £1000 when infact it is now worth in excess of £85,000!)
As a complete beginner to medal collecting I found the excellent Medal Yearbook to cover just about everything in this book as well as a lot more.
The book is very slim and printed on poor quality paper, if it was cheaper it would be OK but I do not think it is worth the price.

As a collector, historian, and antiques dealer, this book is most useful to me to help identify objects - No one-book will cover everything, I suggest you gather several varied types for your library for what ever topic you wish to review.
