I have for quite a long time now, collected Orders of Chivalry and of Merit. And at first, found the subject difficult to get into. Especially not being able to get hold of books with the apropriate information I required.
Well, this book, should be on top of any persons book list, that has an interest in the field of collecting medals/Orders. All though, the author, states in the book, that the subject is as wide as the sky. And quite immpossible to cover in a single book, he gives in this book, all of the "ground work" that is so important to the collector at the begining of their collecting. From, what to look out for in a medal, condition, named medals, correct suspension, and very importantly, how to notice a genuine medal from a copy/fake!
The book also explains the best way to keep your medals in the best condition, and he even shows how to build your own medal cabinet. He even explains the pros and cons of selling your unwanted medals (Although internet auction sites were not arround when written)
Put simply, this book is a brilliant read quite 'unputdownable' a must for all interested in the collecting of medals.
