Italian author Primo Levi's two books of poetry, "Shema" and "Ad Ora Incerta", are collected here for the first time in English translation. Levi's poems concentrate on World War II, a period of his life when he was incarcerated in Auschwitz, and the psychological after-effects of his survival. Other books by Primo Levi now available in English translation include "The Periodic Table", "If This is a Man", "The Truce", "If Not Now, When?", "Moments of Reprieve" and "The Wrench".
Primo Levi was born into a Jewish family in Turin, Italy, in 1919. He spent time in Auschwitz and his novel If This Is a Man is a harrowing account of his ordeal. Levi died in 1987.
