Product Description

Product Description

This last volume contains the letters, reviews and other pieces which George Orwell wrote during the last five years of his life; they include "Such, Such Were the Joys", a reminiscence of his preparatory school. "Animal Farm" had eventually relieved him of financial worry, but during the drafting and writing of "Nineteen Eighty-Four" he was increasingly handicapped by the illness of which he died, early in 1950.

In his last book of letters and articles George Orwell demonstrate once more great clarividence as predicting the URSS should evolutionate to democracy if not wanted nuclear war, but side by side there are fails, logical when risking to predict the future. One feels that Orwell had journalism blood and he is sometimes too much hurrying. There are some references to Franco, but Franco wasn't by far as Stalin or Hitler, simply he followed fascist fashion. He was a common militar, cool and cautious. In fact he would have been a good British. Civil War was another thing surely unavoidable with or withouth Franco. Paradoxalment Orwell seemed a too many disquiet man and perhaps he would have live more time if no so many travels and agitation, perhaps not ever well justified. It's rare because Englishmen aren't usually known to have strong passions. Nevertheless it's true brave men choose his way. No doubt Orwell did it.
