About the Author

Jake Jackson's publications, as writer, editor or contributor, include The Beginner's Guide to Reading Music, How to Play Classic Riffs and Play Flamenco. As guitarist and songwriter he has been in a few bands, including Slice, The Harmonics and Starbank and has studied a form of Flamenco guitar. Although Jake has a range of fine guitars in his house his favourite music software is Sibelius and, having worked with Cubase for many years, is now moving over to Logic Pro.

Book was smaller than I thought and apart from some nice photos did not have much content Can't say it was good value but might make an ok little gift for someone who likes guitars

Rubbish 5 Jun. 2012
By Modis - Published on
Format: Hardcover
Contains glossy photos of the bodies of some well known guitars with very minimal item details, no pictures of the whole guitar, no specifications and no text as to why these guitars are collectable or significant. Poorly edited with a number of errors. Leave this one in the clearance bin.
GARBAGE 14 July 2012

This is the worst Guitar Book I have ever laid my eyes on. I know some books have a few technical issues but. This book has a few technical rights. It got to the point I was searching for something that was remotely correct. Does anyone proof read this idiot's material. Almost every fact that he wrote about any given guitar was 90% false. I was starting to believe this was either written as a joke, or written by a drummer. Well it seems that neither was the case. If you are buying this as a gift for a guitar lover you know, keep shopping. This book is good for one thing, lining a bird cage. The only reason I gave it one star was because I could not post without leaving at least one star. This book deserves 0 stars

Received the book as a gift (grateful ... the thought counts... the actual gift though leaves much to be desired), there are indeed some huge errors that got past the publishers such as the stratocaster looked like a telecaster and the PRS standard 24 did not have 24 frets and is probably a custom 22 not a standard... bad idea for guitar geeks. I couldn't find their website so I can't offer corrections for the errors, but the absence probably reflects the absence of quality of this item
