Colin Galbraith has been writing fiction since 1999.
Born in Paisley and raised in Bridge of Weir in the west of Scotland, Colin always had a predilection for writing and could often be found writing short stories and poems, and talking about the idea of becoming a journalist.
Other things got in the way though, and after taking a degree in Business Information Technology at what was then called Paisley College of Technology, he began an office job in 1995 and forgot about writing altogether.
It wasn't until 1999 that Colin picked up the pen once more. After being given a copy of Hand to Mouth by Paul Auster, a creative light was sparked. Colin enrolled on a creative writing course at the Open College of the Arts that same year, and two years later, embarked on an adventure.
Colin first saw publication in 2004 in the now defunct This Is It Magazine, with a short story entitled ONCE A BORDERER. Further short story successes came with UNDER THE SKIN (Wildchild Publishing - 2006), HEART OF A CHILD (The Scruffy Dog Review - 2006), ON A MONDAY MORNING (Static Movement - 2006), LETTING GO (Open Wide Magazine - 2010), REGRETS (The Dublin Quarterly - 2011), and BUZZ (Flashes in the Dark - 2011).
Throughout this period Colin also began to write poetry, publishing several chapbooks through Edinburgh-based Smashing Press, and under the alias Chas Stramash: FRINGE FANTASTIC (2005), POOLSIDE POETRY (2007) and SILLY POEMS FOR WEE PEOPLE (2010).
Colin loves crime fiction, and in 2004 his first attempt was sold to US-based publisher, KIC. HUNTING JACK was released as a weekly serial and was mildly successful. Readers had to wait 8 years, however for Colin's next crime story. It came in January 2012, when Smashing Press published Colin's first full-length novel, SLICK.
But Colin also has a second literary love: paranormal fiction. In 2009, he was delighted when Eternal Press published his first paranormal mystery, a novella entitled STELLA. The sequel, BACCARA BURNING, is on the cards to be published in the coming months.
Colin lives with his wife and daughter in Leith near Edinburgh. When he's not writing, his ideal day would involved a visit to the pub, some live music, a good Indian curry, and a few whiskies to round if off.
Colin Galbraith is an outstanding fake faller.
