Colin Feltham was born in London in 1950, has lived in Sheffield since 1993 and spends a significant amount of time in Denmark. After a varied early career he worked at Sheffield Hallam University from 1995 to 2010 and is now Emeritus Professor of Critical Counselling Studies. He is a qualified and accredited counsellor and clinical supervisor. He has written and edited many books on counselling and psychotherapy, most recently Critical Thinking in Counselling and Psychotherapy (Sage, 2010) and the Sage Handbook of Counselling and Psychotherapy, third edition (Sage, 2012) with Ian Horton.
With the publication of What's Wrong With Us? The Anthropathology Thesis (Wiley, 2007) he established an interest in the roots, effects and obduracy of universal human pathology. His book Failure (Acumen, 2012) continues to look at some of these themes, including a philosophical underpinning.
He also has an interest in climate change, having contributed to some small conferences organised by the group Crisis Forum, and occasionally writes journalistic pieces.
