We just bought this sleeping bag for my wife who gets a bit chilly at night in the tent and found our 2 season double bag too cold for the spring camping. It is ideal for 3/4 season (early spring through late autumn).

The plus points: its well made; its a good brand; its very big 235cm long and 90cm wide so ideal if you find mummy bags too restricting; its very warm; its very good value at £26 from Amazon.

The negative points: it is big even when packed into its stuff sack; it would be too hot for most people in high summer if night temps don't drop below 10 degrees; it says you can zip 2 together to make a double but logically if you did that one of you would have the mummy hood flapping over your face, so if you want a double buy the Hudson double.

If you want a slightly cooler square bag go for the Hudson 300 (has 300g per sqM as opposed to 450g here). The 300 is a 2/3 season bag (spring to autumn).

Overall we recommend this bag, we're pleased with our purchase, the wife loves it.

Coupled with the Gelert self inflating mat, I had the best nights sleep camping ever. Really cosy even on a cold night and lovely to have cotton against the skin as opposed to the polyester of many sleeping bags. A great buy!

I wanted a sleeping bag I could use at the beginning (April/May) and end (Sepember/October) of the season as this seems to be when I have the most difficulty with cold. I've had a good bag for years but when that got too old I bought a mummy one. I found that mummy bag too restrictive so after much searching bought this bag on the basis of prior favourable reviews. It's huge with lots of room to move around inside! I used the bag for the first time in the middle of May 2010 - on a cold starry night (near to freezing). The only chilly part of me was my nose (well, we all have to breathe) and even then after a short time the bag worked its magic and my nose became as warm as the rest of me! Just make sure you have some insulation under you or you will lose heat to the ground. This bag is a three season one and I thoroughly recommend it. So much better than my old bag!

the bag is massive! Ideal for someone tall, bit long for me (5'7") and wide but very comfortable and WARM! Used in May - nights were cool and heavy dew, and I didn't feel the cold at all. Quite large when in stuff sack, not ideal for backpacking, but ok if you take a car.

I bought this sleeping bag for a recent caravan holiday. I was really fed up with my other "mummy" style sleeping bag because I like to spread out when I'm sleeping and hate being confined. This sleeping bag is wonderful for that, it is bigger than a single and is very, very comfortable. The service I received from the seller was good too and had a fast delivery time. I am a very happy customer as I slept really well on my holiday for the first time ever. Thanks to all concerned.

Firstly it must be said that there are roughly two types of sleeping bags the "family" and the "lightweight" kind, this sleeping bag is the "family" type and is not ideal for hiking. I am mentioning this so that others do not make the same mistake that I did and and buy a family type for a hiking trip. This sleeping bag is huge and while the carry bag itself has straps which allows you to compress its size, even at full compression it makes little difference and I could never get it to fit into my 66l rucksack. In the end I had to remove the sleeping bag from the carry bag then forcefully stuff the sleeping bag into the rucksack leaving me with less than half the room for other equipment. It is very heavy at 2.7kg and that weight matters when walking over hard terrain. In my naivety I chose price over weight and did not do enough research and painfully paid for it in the end. So if you are looking for a sleeping bag for hiking purposes search for the light weight ones.

Saying that though the sleeping bag itself is not all bad, it seems to be made to a good standard and it is very warm the colours of the bag however are darker than what the image shows. If your going to a camping site or doing other outdoor activities where you wont be travelling far it is the ideal buy for the price. For other outdoor activities like hill walking the overall size and weight will only make this bag a burden on your hike.

My husband and I camp fairly regularly and had been using the mummy style sleeping bags for a few years. After being fed up with being unable to spread my legs or move comfortably when sleeping I decided it was time to buy an old school rectangular sleeping bag.

We each ordered the Coleman Hudson 450 for a week long camping trip in the Scottish Highlands in July 2011. Even though the weather was fantastic (nice and sunny during the day) it did get quite chilly at night (around 4 to 6 degrees C). The Coleman Hudson 450 excelled at providing the right amount of warmth, extreme comfort and manoeuverability.

After waking up on the first morning my husband and I looked at each other and said, "That was the best camping night's sleep!" We woke up feeling completely refreshed, not sore or achy and actually slept until 10.00am which was unheard of in our previous camping trips.

We wholeheartedly recommend this sleeping bag as it is incredibly comfortable on top of a very firm air mattress. We think that it would be warm enough to use in colder temperatures yet not too warm to use during the summer. When we returned home we were actually sad that we were unable to sleep outside anymore as we slept absolutley fantastic with the sleeping bag and air mattress.

Another added bonus: I am 6'0" and my husband is 6'6" and we had loads of room left over as this sleeping bag is very long. It also has a very handy pocket on the inside toward the opening, in which you can store your wallet or other important items in case you are worried about leaving them exposed in the tent. We can't wait to go camping again just so we can use the sleeping bags! Please be advised that this sleeping bag is 2.2kg and is quite bulky, so you should only buy it if you have a car or caravan to transport it, or if you are only walking a short distance with it.
