Coldplay Live 2012 is the band’s first concert film/live album for nine years. It documents their acclaimed Mylo Xyloto world tour, which has been seen by more than three million people since it began in June 2011. The film was directed by Paul Dugdale, previously responsible for Adele’s Live at the Royal Albert Hall and The Prodigy’s Worlds On Fire concert films. Coldplay Live 2012 includes footage from Coldplay’s shows at Paris’s Stade de France, Montreal’s Bell Centre and the band’s triumphant Pyramid Stage headline performance at Glastonbury 2011. This edition comes in blu-ray casing, including an audio CD of the live album as well as the concert film on blu-ray.

why can't a live dvd just show a band playing anymore??? If the music is good and the show is good, why can't this be the entertainment? Why do they insist on 600 different camera angles per beat? The opening track on this dvd is a joke. Its not a live recording at all, its simply a music video. There's absolutely no sense of 'been there' in the slightest.

It does improve slightly but i prefer a simple recording of a live performance and that's it. Coldplay are a great band with great songs and they do great shows. That's all i need to enjoy them. I wouldn't be surprised to see die hard style explosions added in future releases.

Really enjoyed this one and was looking out for it for ages having seen Coldplay at the Emirates Stadium as part of this tour. The Blu Ray itself is not the standard live release you get with some artistic licence taken with the images and with overlays etc.,

Quality is generally very good though with the show itself broken down to various songs from different shows - with one or two of the songs appearing quite grainy. Have a feeling the Director intended this for a particular feel but it just annoyed me - I want a full, unedited, Coldplay concert. Overall though the image quality is fine with good camera angles throughout. Sound is, as you may expect, superb making full use of the lossless audio format.

One of two songs from the live shows were omitted which is a shame but what is left makes for a great record of an incredible tour. The fact Rhianna is there for Princess of China was a huge bonus.

Overall this is a highly recommended purchase.

Please note this is a review for the CD+DVD version, not the Blu-Ray

Personally, I've never been a fan of Live Albums. The 'rougher' sound compared to the studio-produced works just never did it for me... but that's just me. This, however, has proven quite the exception. Just when I thought Coldplay's music couldn't get much better, they infuse it with energy, style and colour, and drop-kick it at your speakers. Lo and behold, the live CD proudly shows off why Coldplay have the reputation they do now. It's an astounding performance, and if you loved their live freebie LeftRightLeftRightLeft from 2009, then this one will be perfect for you! It's a brilliant collection of most of their big hits (of course, most of us would probably want other songs on there) beautifully performed during their Mylo Xyloto tour - sometimes with some nice twists. The recordings are predominantly from their Paris gig, but with a few snips from Madrid, LA and Glastonbury too

The CD is brilliant. In particular, the 'Live' aspect helps bring a new edge, especially to the songs from Mylo Xyloto, which were hindered by somewhat of an artificial studio feel. Whilst a few reviewers on here don't seem to like the sound quality: I personally didn't have any qualms with it. Granted, the sound is quite "full on" even for the ballads - But for me, I loved the over-the-top energy of the whole thing. The explosive opening of 'Hurts Like Heaven' always brings an excited smile to my face. The audience adds a brilliant atmosphere to the whole thing and really helps to bring the sound alive. My only gripe (and this is quite a sore point) is that 'Viva La Vida' feels incredibly underwhelming - I'm not quite sure how, but it just really sounds quite flat and lacks the divine 'punch' the other songs do.

This , the first live DVD/blu-ray for the band to undertake in a few years is an informative , vibrant concert and gives a comprehensive background to one of the UK's successful bands. There has been many Concert/Documentary type films over the years by the likes of Madonna , Led Zeppelin , Duran Duran , and this is really the 2012 take on their Mylo Xyloto tour as was..
Capturing all the highs of some of the biggest (and smallest) venues we see the boys in all their working glory and in between songs , a rough mix of voice commentary by each band member as to the "hows" and "whys" of the bands ideas and concepts at this stage in their musical career..
The quality is fairly good , allot of grain in the darker picture edges due to the low-light , high speed shooting during production , and the sound mix is loud and sharp too.
There has been little fiddling or mucking about with any live performance and the atmosphere is resonant through the full 95 or so minuets of this well edited masterpiece.
Its COLDPLAY at their best , and all very enjoyable..My only grip is the length given most movies are at least over two hours long , and even one of their own live shows lasts at least that , and if they could have squeezed one or two more classics on like "Speed Of Sound" and "LOST" ...this would have been short of perfection.
Still what we have is good enough giving how long we have had to wait for any LIVE material that was not bootlegged or on U-tube and the Blu-ray transfer is sharp and makes you feel your back under a sea of paper butterfly's and glowing wrist-bands...
It may well be a while before they embark on anything as big as this , so enjoy their tour in all its Hi-Def glory !!
