Cold Prey: Following a gruesome accident, five friends' idyllic snowboarding expedition to the Jotunheimen mountains takes a turn for the eerie when they are forced to take shelter from a ravaging storm in an abandoned ski lodge. Empty and silent, the cavernous lodge seems deserted -- but there are secrets here. These secrets are long buried, thought forgotten and very, very dangerous. Before the night is out, those who survive will have discovered the true meaning of terror and looked into the very face of evil.
Cold Prey 2: In the winter of 2006 and five young friends meet a brutal death in the Jotunheimen mountain range of Norway. Only a young woman survived. Cold and weak Jannicke struggles her way back to civilization. In the small local hospital the personnel are going through their daily routines. But then the bloody and beaten young woman is brought in. Later Jannicke wakes up in her hospital bed. But the hospital is darkened and not a living soul is in sight. Alone she carefully steps out into the corridors. Is her nightmare not over after all?

These are great slasher films although it's hard to treat them as two separate films. The second film is just part two of the same film really but set in a hospital. For me the first film has the edge because of the setting - an old deserted and completely isolated ski lodge. It has to be said also that what sets the first film in particular apart from its Hollywood equivalents (ie, any slasher film with a group of teens as bait) is that the group in Cold Prey are actually quite likeable and ordinary as opposed to Hollywood's predictable loud, screaming, `super-pretty' and `hunky' American teens so I found myself actually feeling slightly sorry for them as they gradually get shown the red card.
I don't really want to spoil anything about the baddie (not much to spoil really) but let's just say I'm a little immune to Michael Myers and Jason. These films are a welcome addition to the genre having the elements and thick snow also working against the potential victims.
I was pretty satisfied after watching these back to back.

Although this film is in Norwegian with English subtitles it was extremely easy to follow and had me on the edge of my chair all the way through. Loved it!

This review is for the for the Cold Prey/Cold Prey:Ressurrection twin pack.
The first film I'd give three and a half stars, the pointless(but well-made)sequel two and a half.
More of a thriller/chiller than an outright horror film, Cold Prey succeeds mainly due to its eerie setting and a couple of likeable performances - you want these kids to escape.
The sequel loses the surreal atmosphere of the original, and kind of plays as a made for T.V stalk and slash flick.
Not bad for the money...
