Review

"Yet again an edge-of-the-chair thriller with the chilling grip of authenticity." --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

Product Description

A fast-moving new thriller of betrayal and revenge and murder in the bestselling tradition of Chris Ryan and Andy McNab. Haunted by the brutal killing of his UN interpreter wife in Bosnia, ex-SAS man Ed Coltrane is consumed with the need to hunt down her murderers. Drinking too much and spending too much on his search, his life is going into meltdown...Until, just in time, a former colleague tells him one of his wife's killers is in London as guest of the British government. This is only the start of a dangerous journey into the dark heart of modern Europe, where he finds himself in deadly conflict with the new mafias and security apparatus of an emerging superstate - and discovers a secret act of national betrayal that is as shocking as it is unexpected. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Ed Coltrane is an ex-SAS operative who has been trying to hunt down those who murdered his wife Astrid Kweiss in Bosnia-Herzegovina. They are Brigadier Domedzic and Zoran Mihac. An old colleague of Coltrane's tells him that Domedzic is now in London at a British intelligence "safe house". Coltrane quickly senses that he can't miss this last chance to take revenge. But to achieve his aim, he will have to compromise and even face an act of national betrayal... A fast-paced adventure story in Mr Strong's traditional style.

I have read every book by this author more than once over many years. His early writings were excellent reads, intelligently written and storylines others could not come close to. The last couple of books have been a little disappointing and I am convinced that Cold Monday was not written by Terence Strong. This is a terrible book!

It has all been done before, just read McNab or Ryan or other special forces novels. A lot Strong's previous novels have had that air of possibility about them but this story has no credibility about it at all.

Characterisation is poor at best, interaction is wooden and storyline is ridiculous. If this were my first Strong novel, I would not buy anymore, fortunately I've read the best and I'll weather the worst! I am about to read "wheels of fire" by the same author - watch this space!

I read by another reviewer that this is their first book and they thought it was great. If that's the case then he/she will certainly like most of the others - as for this one, instantly forgettable!!

On the face of it an adventure story. Ex-SAS man trapped into a chase which is actually designed to lead to his own death. Nail-biting stuff to the end. Read more
