Book Description

15 July 2011
On an early morning walk, a young girl finds the body of her classmate, Tim Pieters, hidden amongst some bushes. The boy's family are desperate for answers but the killer is never found. Almost two decades later, political pressure sees the cold case reopened and Detective Ella Marconi inherits the job. Ella attacks the case with vigour, determined to shake off the memories of her last investigation, which ended with her being shot in the line of duty. But she knows it won’t be easy – after all this time the murderer is probably long gone and the memories of any witnesses are fading. Georgie Riley, the girl who found Tim’s body, is now a paramedic, trying to face up to her own demons. There's never been any reason to doubt her story, but when Ella receives an anonymous call insisting that Georgie has information about the Pieters’ case, she decides to dig deeper. As long-buried secrets and lies finally come to light, can Ella track down the killer before more people are hurt?

4.0 out of 5 stars rough start but worth it 26 Nov 2011
By Cazza
Format:Paperback
I found the book hard to get into, too disjointed and in need of a good editor. But as I enjoyed another book bij Ms Howell I stuck with it and from about 1/3 in I really started to enjoy it and then I couldn't put it down anymore.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solving a Cold Case 29 Nov 2010
By G. Friese - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I enjoyed this second book from Katherine Howell as much as I enjoyed Frantic. In this book, detective Ella Marconi, is assigned a cold case that weaves through the lives of two high school friends that are reunited as paramedics. I turned the pages quickly of this detective mystery to find clues about the killer's true identity.

For medical professionals you will appreciate the author's background as a paramedic and her accuracy in getting the medicine right in the patient cases included in the story line. For real EMS fans you will enjoy the inside look into the paramedicine in Australia as Katherine Howell is a former paramedic.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEWARE THIS BOOK IS CONTAGIOUS! 9 Oct 2013
By Cattlequeen - Published on Amazon.com

Like all Katherine Howell books this had me glued to the pages from beginning to end. A very good read but no good to anyone who has work waiting for them. If you don't have time to read much, then this book is not for you. You will find it enthralling from beginning to end.
5.0 out of 5 stars Another great Ella Marconi story! 15 Aug 2013

I can't say enough good things about Katherine Howell's writing, she just has a way of pulling you in and keeping you glued to the story until the very end. This book was no different - I enjoyed every page!
4.0 out of 5 stars Sydney crime-fiction, with paramedic twist 13 May 2013
By David N, Canberra, Australia - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The third novel in the Ella Marconi series, and the author keeps getting more polished. I really like the combination of police and paramedics, which provides two themes to each story. If you ever lived in Sydney you will recognise all the localities
