Praise for Alex Shaw 'He won't be stopped now. The book will become popular among Kyiv's expats, some of them will even recognize themselves.' Kyiv Post 'A strong aspect of HETMAN is Shaw's knowledge of Ukraine & Special Forces operations. The character of Bull felt real on the page, you don't get better than that.' 2010 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award

My first book from this author and it was a great read, I'm looking forward to reading Hetman. The characters are strong and the story is gripping.

I am a fan of the whole SAS book genre and read Alex Shaw's first novel `Hetman'. For an unknown writer I was impressed. If Hetman was good then Cold Black is great. Cold Black is the second Aidan Snow thriller and is even better than the first.

The action, as readers of `Hetman' will expect, starts from page one. The characters are weighty, gritty and above all chillingly real. I highly recommend this book.

Brilliant. Read this straight after Hetman. I gave that five stars and want to give this one six as the plot is much bigger. Cold Black has some of the same characters but Snow now works for MI6 (SIS) as an operative. The locations are interesting: Riyadh, Moscow, Kyiv, Minsk and Dubai. Readers of McNab and Ryan will like this as the action is realistic, fast and constant. This includes maybe the first ever action scene to feature the new Atlantis Hotel in Dubai. There is also great dialogue between characters with some humour. Five out of five.
