Product Description

Synopsis

This extensive catalogue is an annually updated, illustrated, serial publication focusing on coin collecting, from an established firm that deals with coins, banknotes and antiquities. It is aimed at the coin trade and collectors and intends to be more of an encylopaedia than a catalogue. The material is split into hammered and milled sections and presented in denomination order; within each denomination, coins are listed by monarch. "Collecting hints" on the availability of grades and conditions are offered for all series, and a new numbering system is used, enabling instant identification of the issuing monarch and the denomination of the coin. With over 50,000 prices, the 1999 edition incorporates a range of features to help make the material easier to locate. Also included are a "Numismatic Glossary", a detailed, illustrated listing of mintmarks of hammered coins, mintage figures, an index of designers and engravers for milled coins, and a section of "Numismatic Documents and Paraphernalia". All the coin prices have been reviewed, and changes made in the light of market alterations. The work is enhanced with maps, indexes, a bibliography, photographs, and line drawings.

Format:Hardcover
Coincraft has a series of catalogs and related information. This particular Catalog as described in the title is more than just a price guide. It features:
 Hammered and milled patterns
 Collecting Hints for each series
 Quick-Index-Charts
Over 700 pages, with illustrations & line drawings
 Over 50,000 prices
 Numismatic Glossary
 Introduction to coin collecting
 History of British Coinage
 Notes on grading
 Mysteries explained
Index of Engravers & Designers of milled coins
 Comprehensive general index

It is time to dive into collection and what can be more intriguing than the coins that you see and hear about in old English movies. Add to that coins that represent historical events and people. It is always safer to have some for knowledge and this is the book to give it.

Has some very good features 30 May 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
While it is not as comprehensive as the "Seaby" catalogue, it does have some very useful features such as the rarities of the different mints and line drawings of the many different types of the Henry III, Edward I and earlier, making them easier to identify.

It does not include the Anglo-Saxon coins of before 1066, but is a very helpful resource for any English collector.

Not just a pricing catalog. 16 Nov 2002
