What the blurb doesn't tell you is that this book is very biased towards collecting U.S. coins. It would be nice if there was a British version, or even a world version. Unless you want to collect U.S. coins it is best avoided.

American coin book 2 Mar 2010
Format:Paperback
Had I known this book was arriving from Canada I may have thought it a silly purchase. The seller sent a coin book dealing mostly with the American market. Some points of interes in the book. I have now purchased an ENGLISH COIN BOOK. I would have thought the Canadian company might have had a clue when the book request came from ENGLAND UK that an American book would be as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike to an ENGLISH PERSON. Anyway it was very cheap so not too much lost as it hit the bin. No hard feelings just having my say. BE HAPPY

Usually the "for dummies book" like a children's book will give you fundamentals to get off the ground on a subject. However this book is too fundamental and too broad and too narrow at the same time. Not that it does not contain helpful information, however right from the beginning I could find no mention of Notgeld or any porcelain coins. Nether did of the referenced address the subject. This leads me to believe that there are other vertical collection markets that are not being addressed or even mentioned in this book.

The Author Ron Guth however is an expert and collector in many fields of coins that are not reflected in this book.
