Product Description

Review

"Cognitive Therapy of Anxiety Disorders will serve as a master text on the overall direction in which this work should be heading. It should also serve as a solid starting point for other writers, such as myself, who are working towards describing more fully what CBT looks like in practice -- warts and all!" - Frank Wills, Healthcare Counselling and Psychotherapy Journal, July 2010 "The authors provide students and practitioners with the strong theoretical base that is a sine qua non for effective treatment. They show how cognition links up with multiple other etiological factors in anxiety and hence can serve well as a treatment target and focus. Marvelous, instructive clinical pearls accompany each theoretical point. An excellent chapter on assessment contains all the necessary rating forms needed for patient evaluation and monitoring of outcomes. Treatment techniques are described in depth; the book concludes with outstanding disorder-specific chapters. The definitive text." - Peter P. Roy-Byrne, Professor and Vice Chair, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, University of Washington School of Medicine at Harborview Medical Center, USA

If you're looking for self help material this is not the product for you. If you want a thorough and complete guide for treating anxiety disorders using CBT by the most prominent practitioners and theorists of CBT, with the most up to date, research grounded, theoretically based texts then this is the book for you. Well worth the cost, Probably not too usefull for th traines but certainly for the advanced practioner or at least someone looking for extra depth and more complex solutions, probably most suitable for someone who uses CBT daily or as a major component of the therapeutic interventions they provide. This book provides a greater understanding and more complex models of the most common anxiety disorders (With the exception of specific phobias and Health Anxiety).

The book provides models and formulations for GAD, Panic, Social Phobia, PTSD and OCD as well as general guide to the diagnosing, assessing, formulating and treating of anxiety disorders. It also provides information and guides about the cognitive and behavioural treatment of anxiety disorders, these elements are then made specific for each of the anxiety disorders in the text.

All in all a very thorough and deep text for any pratcicing CBT therapist.

Esential reading for the CBT practitioner.

EXCELLENT book !! 6 April 2010
Format:Hardcover
An excellent book !! It reviews the main conceptual issues of anxiety disorders, and also therapeutic advances in treatment. GREAT value for mental health professionals (clinical psychologists in particular) and students searching for a clear and (very) well written book about this disorders. For mental health professionals, it is a "paradise" book : it has it ALL about how to do to have therapeutic success with our clients !! This magnificent book 100% fits my expectations - the authors (A.T.Beck, the "father" of Cognitive Therapy, and D. Clark) are very important contributors to the field of knowledge of how to help persons having severe anxiety problems. Everyone interested in this issues will "take a sip" of every line written !! ABSOLUTELY recommended - I may say INDISPENSABLE !!

Bought this for my Psychologist girlfriend who is constantly having to go on extra courses. She finds it invaluable and it has helped her a lot with a few assignments.

This book has a lot of content. It is useful if you are teaching a class and require a reference guide or if you are looking to become a top psychologist in CBT and add to your personal knowledge. It can also be used to assist in your sessions with long term clients or just to brush up what you already know.

My missus has used this book for her uni course and refers to it now and again.

Buy for your office, or if you want a reference guide or to help with assignments etc
