Product Description

Review

It is so clearly written that I am certain a novice therapist would not feel overwhelmed by the content... If you are learning or practising cognitive therapy and only purchase one book this year, this is the one to buy. --'British Journal of Medical Psychology'

Product Description

Cognitive therapy is the established method of helping people to overcome states of depression, anxiety or other emotional conditions. Not only do the authors explain the theory behind the treatment but this was the first collection of case studies to be published outside the United States. With an introduction to the development and application of cognitive therapy, the book goes on to outline how it can work for a therapist or counsellor. Covering cases from depression and panic disorder to bulimia and obsessive-compulsive disorder, giving details of the process of the therapy in each case. This is an invaluable practical guide to how cognitive therapy works for clinical psychologists, students, social workers, nurses and psychiatrists.

Brilliant 30 Nov 2009
Format:Paperback
Would thoroughly recommend this book both for counselling students and therapist. Easy to read and understand and very informative. Have used it both for assignments and in my clinical practise. Covers so many areas, such as depression, ocd, gad to name but a few. Also gives helpful assessment tools recommendations. The way it shows formulations and conceptualisation gives easy understanding. Ten out of ten.

Excellent overview 25 Jan 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book provides a good overview of the empirical status of cognitive therapy (probably the best summary i've read so far!) and then covers the major diagnostic categories (and how CT is typically used). I recommend this book to practitioners/students who are interested in providing empiriacl research based therapy.
