A Good Guide 25 May 2010
By Sherry
Format:Paperback
This book is a breakdown of CBT. It is easy to read, and the theory is written to be understood my anyone learning about counselling and theories. I thought it was a great starting point as the theory. I used it in my first year of study, and it remained basic book for continued study. I would recommend the book to anyone wanting to self study to a basic level, and to students just starting their studies.

CBT Reviewpoint 22 April 2010
Format:Paperback
This is a very down to earth practical workbook that partly duplicates its sister publciation CBT for Dummies. The former being a more theoretical discussion with some practical exercises. The latter being more practical geared. i found the ned for both and I am glad I did. I bought them because my CBT practitioner/coach suggested it would help me rethink old feelings into new feelings lnked to more appropraite thoughts. It is work ongoing but results are already showing positive results. The layout and font is easy to read and follow. I would strongly recommend both of these books as esential to anyone undertaking this type of coaching. Neither is expensive given the almost immediate results when applying some of the techniques described. To balance my view it would be fair to say that there are one or maybe two tables for copying that are a little bit small but this is not a problem I lost much sleep over!.

I had a RTC last year (2010) and it seems I was lucky to walk away from the site. After recovering from physical injuries I returned to work. Two weeks later I felt my life was collapsing around me. I sought counselling and medication and more counselling. I went on-line to do my own research and came across this book. What a relief, I wasn't mad, I just needed to apply my thoughts in a different way.
I then went (via my GP) to see a CBT counsellor and with their help and the help of this book I am now back at work and analysing things differently. Yes the everyday problems in life still exist but with a lighter shade of grey!
If you're feeling down, or at your wits end then I recommend this material. If you are honest with yourself and open to self analysis of your psyche then this book will help you overcome those negative thoughts.
