5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful chilled out stuff 4 May 2006
By matty
Format:Audio CD
This cd is one of the finest of the Coffee shop chillin sessions. Its starts with the beautiful vocals of Lisa Shaw, edging its way through some great trip-hop chillout beats. Every song is great in its own right, but standouts include Lisa Shaw, Indica and Grand Unified. It may be a little hard to get but it's worth it if you're a fan of music of this genre. The first cd in this series is equally great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent - but far from complete 26 Aug 2009
By Boojidad - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
On August 14, 1985, a concert of GRP artists was held in the big room at the Record Plant in Los Angeles. It was recorded for both audio and video release. The lineup was Dave Grusin (keyboards), Lee Ritenour (guitar), Dianne Schuur (vocals), Dave Valentin (flute), Ivan Lins (keyboards, vocals), Larry Williams (keyboards, sax), Abraham Laboriel (bass), and Carlos Vega (drums). Vocalist Phil Perry was brought in to sing on Lee Ritenour's "Countdown" at the end of the show.

This single concert was released to the public in several variations - none of them complete. There was a CD called "GRP Live in Session" and a video called "GRP Live in Session", with identical covers but different tracks. Then there were two video releases under the names "GRP All-Stars Live from the Record Plant" and "Dave Grusin & Lee Ritenour Live at the Record Plant." These last two video programs are now available on a single DVD, which enables you to see the whole show (albeit in chopped up and resequenced form).

This CD (which was my first introduction to this amazing show) only features 7 tracks from the concert, and even they are edited down. Still, the quality of the musicianship plus the top-notch technology involved with the recording means this is one to both enjoy and to use for showing off your system's capabilities. Grab it if you can!

3.0 out of 5 stars A good, but not great compilation from a great label. 26 Feb 2004
By J. Singer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
If you've heard of Baroque records, then you should already know what to expect from this album. A lot of good, but few really great tracks. The first disc, mixed by label founder, Innate, has its moments, but it is nothing special. There isn't too much variety between the tracks, and the set drags on at times. The standout tracks are Minilogue - In A Deeper Motion, Sleepfreaks - PHB, Tilt - Headstrong, and Interflow - Storyreel. All the other tracks are good, but none of them pack any real emotion.
The second disc has better tracks than the first, and is unmixed - CDDJ friendly. Unfortunately, the tracks on this disc are for the most part quite dated. Fortunately, these are some of the finest "progressive" house / trance type tracks from the past few years. And, if by some chance any of these tunes are new to you, then you should be totally satisfied. All of the tracks are pretty good here, but the best tracks on this disc are Jay Welsh - Four Horsemen, Kybosh - Playing With My Mind, Quivver - Boz Boz, and the classic Odessi - Moments of Space.
To be fair, this is an overall great package to introduce you to a good record label, but for those who are already familiar with these tunes, there isn't much point to buying this.

5.0 out of 5 stars This version of "Reverend Lee" is the best ever recorded 30 Jun 2011
By DTS Graduate - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I lost my copy of this CD and have been looking for a replacement for years. It is one of the greatest, most energetic pieces back from the great old GRP days. Reverend Lee absolutely rocks on this CD! Diane was in her groove for this one!
