Product Description

Product Description
Worms 4: Mayhem is returns to the series' roots, and our brave invertebrates are back to knock ten shades of hell out of each other in open arenas.

With players controlling the worms in single player or 4-player team games, everyone's armed with a massive variety of wild weapons, as ingenious as they are incendiary.

And for the first time in any Worms game, you can let your imagination run riot and create your own weapons! Using a genius device, called Weapons Factory, you'll be able to create your own weapon and enjoy the freedom to annihilate your opponents in your own unique way. You want to make Exploding Chickens or Toilet Bombs? You got it.

The worms' armoury of brilliantly conceived classic weapons return and is built on with even more devilish devices. Plus, prepare to cause chaos and humiliate your enemy with a host of new weapons that create new strategies and gameplay possibilities including the Poison Arrow, Sentry Gun, Tail Nail and the Bovine Blitz, which unleashes a bombing raid of cows.

The customisation options don't stop at crafting new weapons. Another first is the ability to customise your worms, choosing their hair, hands, faces, glasses and dying words--all with Worms trademark humour.

The multiplayer mayhem and single-player shenanigans are spread over five themed zones--Jurassic, Camelot, Arabian, Construction and Wild West--and, throughout the enlarged landscapes, the entirely destructible scenery is back with even greater effect.

In single-player modes there's even more beyond the day-to-day business of destroying worms. Through the 25 missions, you're also charged with objectives such as recovering items or smashing scenery. All the single-player maps are available to play in multiplayer mode, along with a further set of 20 multiplayer-specific maps.

With bold levels, an improved 3D camera and animation system, a stunning arsenal delivering comedy kabooms, the loveable, customisable, yet entirely destructible, worms are back in force.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mayhem? Very Appropriate, 21 Aug 2005
By N. Williams "the_shakermaker" (Hull) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
The ultimate party game is back and better than ever. Yep, it's time for those genocidal annelids to raise hell, yet again. From the original 2D classics through the first (and it must be said mildly disappointing) 3D effort, this series has proved supremely entertaining with its very simple concept; some teams of worms attempt to kill each other with a variety of weaponary, some based in reality (shotgun, bazooka), some comical (holy hand grenade, inflatable scouser), all hilarious and all very good fun.
Worms truly is the most fun party game i have ever played. Getting a group of mates over and hammering each others worms into the ground is indescribable. The feeling when a smug mate manages to turn the tide of an entire game with a well placed shot is infuriating but alm,ost always leads to another bout of destruction. It really is something you have to play because ridiculous though the concept is, the fact that it has lasted for this many installments, including a couple of less good ones, shows it's staying power and should convince you better than I that this truly is the ultimate party game.
Worms' big stumbling block however has always been the single player game. This has thankfully been wonderfully rectified with this latest offering. There is now a single player story mode where your team of worms have to complete a nice variety of missions which is actually pretty diverse considering the simplicity of the game. There are missions where you have to climb, descend, collect, and of course, destroy, often with combinations and on top of that there are time challenges set for each level to add some longevity to the proceedings. There are also challenges which you can complete such as doing certain amounts of damage etc. in a single round. Completing any of these challenges will give you coins which can unlock new maps and also, customisations for your worms such as haircuts, glasses, facial hair, gloves etc. to give your team a unique look. You can even design your own weapons which is great fun.
The whole thing looks great with totally unoffensive cartoon visuals which add to the comical style of the game as well as suiting it down to the ground. The camera has also been sorted out this time so that unlike Worms 3D, the camera is a lot more controllable with a joypad. Theres also the sound banks allowing you, as always, to customise your worms with voices ranging from mildly sensible accents to totally absurd stereotypes.
Overall this is the most complete Worms experience to date with the single player game far outweighing all previous offerings and the multiplayer... well, what can i say. Me and my mates have never gotten tired of the mayhem of worms and for all newcomers, Mayhem well be the best time to get involved. you'll be pulling this one out for months to come for many a night of destruction and laughter. One of the most fun games on the market and a welcome return to form for the worms. Game on!

4.0 out of 5 stars MASSIVE IMPROVEMENT, 3 Jan 2006
By A Customer
Okay, we have to admit, worms 3D was a little disappointing. The only thing it had going for it was the multiplayer mode but as my mates aren't really into worms i had to stick with deathmatches with myself (sad i know).
But those days are over! the single player mode is back with a vengeance! You now get a great story mode with proper missions and your own team.
The greatest thing about this game is not the multiplayer, the great story or the fantastic arsenal (inflatable scouser or concrete donkey anyone??!!) its the huge array of customisation options you get!
you can create your own personalised army! you choose what they look like, what they talk like and what their gravestone is. Even better you can create a team weapon in the brand new weapons factory! this does have some limitations as how powerful the weapon can be and what it looks like but its still a good building block for an advanced version in the next installment!
You can even use your personallised army in the story mode! the only 'downside' is that there are 5 elusive and secret weapons that can only be had on infinite ammo and no delay when you have beaten the game 100%. Thats only a downside for me because I'll never get to 100%!

Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars The lodown on Worms 4 Mayhem, 14 Aug 2005
By josh menham "Gamer 4 lyfe" (England, United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
Worms 4 Mayhen takes all of the action and strategic play from all of the previous Worms games and produces a spectacular Worms game like no other ever made! Having completed the game myself, i know that the all of the Worms 4 Mayhem weapons & utilaties are a true credit to the game. It has an all new explosion seqence consisting of massive mushroom clouds of destruction and mayhem wich you can let loose on enemy worms.Weapons like the new and improved, super-destructive bananna bomb and all new weapons like the sniper rifle, bovine blitze, tail nail and, my personal favourite, the deadly alien abduction! The missions are explosive as they are entertaining, with specific destruction and assasination missions. Heres a new feature, after you complete a mission, you are awarded coins for you efforts, whitch you can spend in the item shop. Purchase stuff like worm hats, hands, moustaches, weapons and game schemes. You can also use a genious new feature called the "Weapons Factory" to create and customise your own super-destructive weapons. Along with fully customisable worms and game schemes! If you complete a specific task, you are awarded a trophy. You get bundles of coins if you win a trophy, anything from 100 to 500 coins! every single landscape you play a mission or tutorial on you can unlock simply by buying them in the item shop for 20 coins. Are you a worms newcomer, worried you wont get the knack of the game's controls and gameplay, not to worry! There is a very helpfull and detailed tutorial consisting of 3 levels! A great feature for worms newcomers! Worms 4 Mayhem is an absolute essential for all worms fans, and a blast for worms newcomers! I hope this review has helped you!
