after buying ridge racer, and being very dissapointed.

i wanted a good racing game. and this is one. its essentially a portable version of F1 2011 on ps3. so the whole season is there all the drivers, and all the cars, and tracks. the detail is stunning. and overall worthy of the best racing game yet.

its keeps my coming back as its got a good learning curve. once you mastered the driving techniqe you are sorted. so have patience. it has lots of rewards. worthy of your money.

cant find fault with it at all. great price. and a must for your PS Vita collection.

Not bad at all!! 21 April 2012

Since I spent hours reading countless reviews, and deliberating on whether to buy this game, I thought I would add my own two cents worth, just in case anyone out there is in the same position. I'm only a casual fan of Formula One, but I do like sports simulation of any kind. I have F1 2011 on the PS3, and like so many others have said before me, the Vita version doesn't stand up to the PS3 version, but it's still worth buying in my opinion.

I think the biggest concern of mine came when viewing the video trailers of this game. It all looked very low-res, and dull, lacking any detail. I have to say I was quite pleasantly surprised when I played the game myself. Colours are a lot more vibrant than they appear in the trailers. Detail in the landscape appears better too. It's not HD quality, but you find yourself concentrating on the race so much, that you don't really notice. But the overall visual representation is good.

I haven't played long enough to comment in depth on the gameplay, but what I have experienced so far has been good, as good as the PS3 version. A lot of people have said that it's too easy, and too forgiving. Well, I just cranked the difficulty level up a notch and I get a nice balanced game, although I'm no expert I have to say.

Another nice little touch that I haven't seen on the PS3 version is that you can take a break from driving for a few minutes, and just watch the session from the sidelines. I like little touches like that, although I know most people just want to get stuck into the racing themselves.

To sum up, as a casual gamer, I'm glad I decided to buy it in the end. If you can't decide, then I wouldn't let the bad reviews put you off.

I've been an F1 fan since birth and i've played virtually every F1 game out there. I was really looking forward to this game having enjoyed F1 2011 on Xbox.

Lets get one thing straight, the Vita is a fantastic piece of kit. The quality of games like Unchartered, Fifa and Wipeout is amazing, just like holding a PS3 in your hands. But F1 2011? absolute rubbish and i never thought I would say that.

First up, the presentation is fine, the game has lots of options and game modes and for the most part offers what the console versions do for content. But thats where it ends.

Unfortunately, the bad points points outweigh the good. The main one being the gameplay and graphics. This isnt a bad racer, its just nowhere near what it should be for a system as good as this. Wipeout is probably the nearest you will get to this game as a comparison but Wipeout plays and looks like a next gen handheld game whereas F1 2011 plays like what it is, a port from the PSP version from last year or worse still, a port from the 3DS version. The graphics are appalling, they are fuzzy, low-res and have hardly any detail and they certainly dont make use of the excellent screen on the Vita. Likewise the gameplay is slack, cars 'slide' around corners and never feel like they have traction like they do in their console versions so therefore you end up playing a rather 3rd rate driving game thats been lazily programmed and obviously rushed out. If you are used to Tetris on a Gameboy then you will think the graphics are fine but if like me you are used to console and psp graphics you will know this game is rubbish. At one point i even wondered if i had picked up my original PSP until i saw the 2nd joystick.

There is none of the 'Live the Life" elements in here from the console version and the touch screen is barely used. its so obviously a straight port from the 3DS version, which for the Vita is a sin. The Vita is an amazing piece of kit, just dont make the mistake of thinking that this game follows suit and thats coming from a F1 fan.

Avoid and wait for F1 2012 and even then, make sure its been produced for the Vita.
