Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Hospital Tycoon is a medical-themed God game in which players are put in charge of hectic hospital facilities that are constantly on the verge of crisis and collapse. Players are challenged to run, maintain, enhance and expand the hospitals while turning any chaotic situation around using ingenious management techniques.

The most infectious thing about Hospital Tycoon is its humour as players experience how the game's characters the doctors, nurses and patients interact with each other and react to how well the player is running each hospital. The game's high level of character interaction will create a living hospital that's part soap opera and part comedy.

A move away from micro-management life-simulation games, Hospital Tycoon will create emerging situations that are as entertaining as they are challenging. The manic medical teams have to deal with patients suffering from the most peculiar ailments, such as the man afflicted with 'Monkey Nuts' and the office worker diagnosed with 'Stress Zombosis', and set about curing them with equally odd treatments.

At the Sapphire Beach Medical Institute, the lives and loves of the hospital's doctors and nurses, as well as the sneezes and diseases of its patients, will come alive this June when Hospital Tycoon launches exclusively for PC. Fusing 'Tycoon' style gameplay with character simulation and a light-hearted narrative, Hospital Tycoon is set to give players a soap-opera feel as they progress through episodes of hospital drama's Story Mode.

Each episode in Hospital Tycoon explores a plot involving certain members of the hospital's staff and some very interesting patients, while at the same time challenging players to find cures for bizarre new illnesses. Diseases range from the everyday Explosive Sneezing - where a simple sneeze can launch the unfortunate patient several feet into the air, to the more rare Monkey Nuts - where patients sprout fur, climb furniture and favour bananas over everyday person food.

Hospital Tycoon staff members have rich behaviours that players can nurture and influence throughout the game. Gamers may choose to encourage a friendship or a falling-out of sorts, and can train staff to improve their skill levels. Players will also be challenged to manage and maintain each hospital, creating dedicated areas to support additional medical needs, including surgery, diagnosis, physiotherapy and more.

As more patients are cured, the more players can expand their medical empire and attract new, and even more interesting patients. However, as the hospital becomes busier, players will have to be on the lookout for the spread of infectious conditions or they'll soon have an epidemic running riot throughout the facility.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nice graphics, shame about the game, 6 Jul 2007

Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
I haven't tried story mode in this as I was a fan of Theme Hospital , like everyone else who bought this so opted for freeplay. You can see why we all thought it was going to be a modernised sequel but it doesn't come close, they have tried to build in more focus on the staff, who spend too much time either arguing or trying to romance each other which seems to me that they've tried to put in some Sims-like control while ignoring the bits they hype up- there's no sense of urgency in the gameplay as there are few patients and only about 5 diseases.
Overall it lacks the challenges of Theme Hospital as well as the focus on the actual hospital processes, the menus are not as well laid out as they appear as it's hard to identify objects in the purchase screens if you haven't been through "story mode", or forced tutorial and the game developers will try to charge you for cheats, which you won't really need as you'll probably be bored with it after half an hour. I'm sorry I bothered with it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beyond a joke, 2 Jul 2007

As just about every reviewer below says this game has to be the worst game i have played for many years.

To think theme hospital is 10 years old and is so much better in gameplay tells you everything.

Its bug city to say the least and with only 12 patients in the hospital at one time(theme hospital would have 50-60 or more)is just a joke and no challenge at all.

With no support or patch coming the only place for this game is the BIN.

2.0 out of 5 stars Fun for a while... but the game is unfinished, 17 Jun 2007

Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
I was hoping this game would be a good replacment for Theme Hospital, it does capture most of the fun and feel of TH. Hospital Tycoon is fun for a while, but then it gets boring.

You will never have many patients in your hospital, so your hospital will be a ghost hospital. The largest number of patients that have been reported in a hospital is 19. Also you have no control over what will happen in Sandbox, some types of illness might not EVER appear in your sandbox game. Also its too easy to make money, you should really never be low on money as long as someone is coming into your hospital and you dont have more staff than you need. Also the camera is dumb, since you can only veiw the "inside" of the hospital, the camera stops when it bumps into the walls of the map, and you cannot turn the camera around beyond this, meaning the camera cant be swung into certain possitions in rooms built next to the main walls of the map.

here is the worst part... the game is incomplete, Codemasters decided to wrap it up and sell an unfinished product anyway and have stated they have no intention of patching or updating this game. They never released a demo or beta, so we could not help them fix the game(wut?!) The advertising of the game was false, Codemasters lied to us and showed us content they had no intention of letting us play. Larger Hospitals, vast numbers of patients, wheelchairs and additional illnesses are among many of the things they showed us and did not give us.

These things are actually stored in the game, but they are not "active" a mod is currently being made to "activate" these features and make the game complete.(or as complete as it will get).

If you really want to just "try" it, then by all means do so, but until a mod or patch comes out you will not get the full experience of this "game"

Such a waste. if only they had adressed some problems, this game would have totaly been the next Theme Hospital, it has so much potential.
