There are only a handful of animes that I would consider a true Masterpiece and Code Geass is one of them. Everything in the series just works... the main character is probably one of the coolest characters of all time and his female counterpart isnt far off the mark either...
It has a GREAT plot and well thought of idea that can rival shows like Death Note
A lot better mecha action scenes than any you would find in a Gundam series
and Very Strong Characters and most of their developments has been handled extremely well

The art is also beautiful with a lot of detail on the characters, CLAMP at its BEST and several soundtracks are sure to stay in your mind for a long time

An entire season for this amount of money is just a bargain
Even if you have seen it already... you should definitely pick up this in Blu ray cos it's just so much better experience

Lets get this out of the way because I'm not going to focus much on the show itself but this particular release, Code Geass is fantastic and one of the very few Anime series of the last ten years I have really enjoyed. This pack with the full 25 episodes of the first series in a slim case is great value and not too hard on my increasingly limited shelf space! The picture and sound quality are solid and definitely up to par.

The biggest problem I have with this release is the subtitles. First of all Kaze continue to force the language options on their releases. You can switch only from the title and pop up menu however if you want English with subtitles or Japanese without, tough. There is really no good reason to lock the subtitles. The subtitles themselves are white with black border which isn't the worst scheme but can sometimes be hard to read (personally I much prefer yellow on black) though this isn't that big a deal. The text encoding itself has some issues with quotation marks displaying as a random chain of characters. For reference I'm viewing on a PS3, I can't say for sure if this problem occurs on all players. It doesn't happen too often but it is pretty poor in that just watching through should have shown this problem and it's been a persistent problem across multiple Kaze releases.

None of these things detract too much from the fantastic show, not enough for less than 5 stars. In Kaze's long history of howlers this is actually pretty good for them.

CodeGeass Lelouch of the Rebellion is set in an alternate version of our world in which Japan has been invaded by a huge empire called Britannia, not the actual British Empire, but a fictionalized one that shares some superficial cultural characteristics with the genuine article. This massive empire controls all of the Americas. The invasion of Japan reduces the nation to an area colony of Britannia, designated Area 11. This story begins a while after this act of conquest.

The story primarily centers around the protagonist whose name is the title credits 'LeLouch'. He is an elder teenager and gifted student at a school called Ashford Academy located in a colonial district of the newly rebuilt Tokyo city. He and his little sister are banished members of the Britannian royal family. A former prince and princess. He hates his father, family and Britannia for their world view and particularly their treatment of his crippled little sister. Whether or not you will end up liking this series will hinge heavily on this character.

One day this stoically anguished young man gets caught up in a terrorist hijacking and meets a strange girl who grants him a mystical power called 'geass' which enables him to subvert the free will of people, with some limiting conditions. It is no surprise what Lelouch does next. He sets out to start an armed rebellion, to overthrow the Britannian empire and get revenge on his family. So the typical choices of an adolescent. Lelouch is a genius, he is not however wise, some people confuse these two different things. Watching Lelouch's growing destructiveness and the corresponding consequences is the main source of entertainment in this story.

I won't base my review on the series, it's a fantastic must see for all anime fans, the Blu-rays themselves are of nice quality, plenty of extras and then menus work surprisingly well on my ps3. My only complaint for the release is the censorship of all the Pizza hut sponsorship; there's a reason some call it Code Pizzabutt and it's just not same experience without the ridiculous amount of product placement.

Great first season, can't wait for the next one. Lovely box and case art but the ending may leave some wanting more.

Just like the others said the picture doesn't resemble the item which has a different cover and a very slim case. The cover says that there are only 12 episodes but don't worry the disks contains all 25 episodes.
I didn't check but I've read that they also censored the PIzza Hut logo.
In spite of all these facts I decided to buy it anyway so I'm satisfied with my purchase.
Regarding the anime it's one of the best I've ever seen (9.5 out of 10) but it's up to you to decide if it's worth spending money for something that has NO extra contents.
