I'd read the author's previous book "The Coconut Oil Miracle" years ago and the information was buried under the avalanche of further reading I've done since. Recently several books took me back to coconut and I got both this book and the previous one, by the same author. As far as I can tell, all the information from the previous book is also in this one, which includes further information about the healing powers of coconut meat, milk and cream. I would therefore suggest getting this book, rather than the earlier "The Coconut Oil Miracle", although both are excellent. (Papaya/Pawpaw is another miracle fruit worth checking out, by the way.)
Coconut oil, milk, juice, flesh, leaves and burlap from its tree have all been used for centuries by tropical inhabitants. The author offers good, informative details about the miracle of coconut. Much information is given on the health benefits (yes BENEFITS) of saturated fats and the "smear" campaign of the vegetable oil industry. In fact coconut oil can help weight loss for the obese and weight gain for the over-skinny as well as reduce heart disease and many, many other health problems: it may prevent and even reverse all sorts of things from inflammation to infections. And allergies. And skin conditions, including fungus.
It's been only three weeks so far but I'm pleased with small but noticeable improvements myself. I've passed out a couple of samples too, and can report that a colleague still had a very sore mouth more than 48 hours after a major dental procedure but the soreness stopped less than one minute after rubbing coconut oil on his gums and teeth. He kept rubbing for a couple of days, each time any soreness returned. A parent rubbed the oil on shingles, which reduced the burning every time.
The only drawback is that the author seemed to elevate coconut as the sole reason islanders are healthy. Many modern insults, like vaccinations and the adoption of a Western diet, are involved in the increasing health problems worldwide, not JUST the omission of coconut oil. It is accepted that islanders' health has degenerated, but ignoring coconut oil is not the only reason. However, this is a minor drawback.
[Later notes: I feel it's important to mention the new mental/emotional healing process explained in "The Healing Code" by Loyd/Johnson/Eble. There are hundreds of personal successes listed in the reviews on Amazon.com.
For those looking for general health improvements, I also suggest:
- "Outsmart Your Cancer" by Tanya Harter Pierce is a considered and thoughtful review of successful alternative remedies - and, anything that can HEAL cancer is also a general healer and should be able to help much else in the body;
- "Never Fear Cancer Again" by Raymond Francis, a brilliant distillation of what is truly needed for health;
- "Trick and Treat", which turns upside down everything governments have told us to eat for health;
- "Transdermal Magnesium Therapy" by Sircus on the amazing benefits of magnesium - a fundamental supplement for a healthy body - particularly magnesium chloride flakes (transdermally), available comparatively cheaply, and
- "The XXL Syndrome", basically a booklet, about the essential part potassium plays in health (food grade potassium bicarbonate powder is also available cheaply.]
