So, I wanted to get rid of some of my CD's and put them in the attic. Saw the advert for the Brennan JB7 and promptly ordered the 160 GB model. This was delivered in a matter of days and I started to rip some of my CD's onto the machine. I had been using the machine for a few hours when it suddenly started to reset itself in the middle of ripping a CD. I contacted the helpline and they suggested a few potential solutions, none of them worked. I returned the machine and was sent another machine within a couple of days. When the second machine arrived, I had the same issue so asked for a refund. When I asked what was going on, I did get the answer that they had picked up a few issues with some of their machines.....which calls into question what their quality assurance program is all about.

So, I bought this Cocktail Audio 500GB machine and it works perfectly. It has a few more functionalities than the Brennan and a bit cheaper to. Having the internet connection updates the database as well, unlike the Brennan where you have to buy an updated disc and load this onto the machine

I would have give the Cocktail Audio 5 stars, but the website is appalling and the spelling unacceptable. Similarly the English in the manual is also unacceptable. It looks at though the manual was written in Korean and then translated into English using Google translate. It seems the company is unwilling to update the website to a more professional standard, but nevertheless I would recommend this product!!!

I bought one a week ago, loaded 150 CDs into it, found the random play feature and now I've got the worlds best radio station in my living room.
This gadget does it all - organises your CDs (I have about 700 and could never find the one I wanted), plays internet radio and records from analogue sources or internet radio.
I haven't tested the built-in amp, but it sounds great through my Arcam amp.

I was going to buy a Brennan but I really wanted internet radio so I starteg googling and found this. Its cheaper has more capacity, a better display - and radio.

On the downside the manual and website could be better.

Training required! 25 Aug 2011
Just bought the X10 this week. I have had a couple nights play with it but I still have some way to go to fully set it up. I bought the X10 so that I could play all my music at the press of a button rather than waiting for my PC to fire up and WMP to open. However, I did not realise the X10 would be so complicated to set up and I now wish I had bought an Archos 48 with 500gb drive instead, I think the Archos would be much easier to set up and use, or I had just stuck with the PC! I have found the instructions not to be full and have had to view online forums to gain further information. I still can't find out if I can copy and paste my current music files to the X10 drive when it is connected to my PC as I have done with portable MP3 players. As for sound quality, I have the X10 hooked up to my amp and the music I have loaded up does not sound as good played back as the Cds played through the amp from an audio CD player.
Maybe I will be happier, if the sound quality improves, when it is fully set up and I have my music library at the press of a button but that could be some time off yet! I think I could only recommend the X10 to gadget geeks!
