I enjoy the works of J.S. Fletcher, only discovering him about a year ago (through an Amazon recommendation) and am steadily reading through his extensive output. They are intelligent, well written stories and Cobweb Castle is no exception - with a spooky empty castle, stolen treasure, murder and the family solicitor, his clerk and the police trying to unravel the mystery.
Characters are well drawn and distinctive - I always find this adds to the enjoyment when the author gives me a good mental image of each of the cast of characters.
I appreciate that Fletcher's work may not appeal to all tastes as it has a dated quality (set in the late 19th and into the early 20th centuries), but this, for me, adds to it charm.
