Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

The Cobra Microtalk 110 is your own personal communications device, which has a range of 3 km, or about 2 miles under ideal conditions. Unlike other 2-way radio systems, there are no licence fees to pay, simply insert 4 AAA size batteries into each handset and you can start talking. There are no monthly fees, contracts or service fees and each handset has eight channels to choose from, so wherever you are, you will have your own channel to communicate on.

This pack consists of two handsets and two belt clips, which double up as desk stands, batteries for the handsets are not included. The handsets are pretty rugged and all the buttons are rubberised. Although the antennas are quite long, they are very flexible, so they will bend if needed. The handsets also come with a unique power-saving device to maximise battery life. If there are no transmissions, after 10 seconds, the unit will switch to battery saving mode and the display will show the power save message. For low light or night time use, a button below the display activates the backlight, and there is a pair of covered sockets on the top of the unit for a headset or lapel microphone, available separately. These units are half-duplex, which means you need to press the talk button to transmit, and release to receive. Volume is adjustable, and the handsets contain an auto-squelch circuit which cuts off weak signals and unwanted noise. However, auto squelch can be temporarily disabled to extend the range of the units. A roger beep will be transmitted when you release the talk button, which alerts the other party that you have finished talking, and you can use the call button to attract the other party's attention. There is one with the power button, which has a tendency to switch on when accidentally knocked, causing drain to the battery life. The Cobra Microtalk 110 is ideal for people who need to stay in touch over short distances, such as hikers, mountain bikers and within large buildings.--Simon Pickstock

4.0 out of 5 stars A Must have for parents, 12 Aug 2001
This review is from: Cobra Microtalk 110 Two-way Radio - Twin Pack Black (Electronics)
These walkie talies are great, gone are the days of loosing your kids..., with their huge 2 mile range its almost impossible to loose track of them! They are easy to use and you don't have to have training to use them unlike other radio systems. Even though they are a bit bigger than some other makes their curved shape means they fit comfortably into the hand. Unlike a mobile phone which is expensive to use (especially if you are calling to another moblie) its free. Well worth the money, like i said a must have for keeping in touch
