I live in a crumbling cob house in Devon that needed some urgent t.l.c. Local builders asked to help were either daunted by the prospect or advised drastic restoration using alien materials. However... with the aid of this step by step guide I was able to piece together the missing elements , using cob, which not only looks right but, so far, has withstood the wettest summer on record at virtually zero cost, apart from the (considerable) physical labour.

An excellent volume. Clear concise, informative and instructive. Anyone who wishes to undertsand the rational as why cob was used for construction; or is embarking upon a restoration project should buy this book before starting work. It helps understand the pitfalls of restoration work and helps to ensure the continued life of a Cob building. This imformative and practical guidebook will repay its cost in less than a week.

Delivered so nicely wrapped I thought it was a present. Very good little book crammed with info and good links to references which also offer free downloads. I would employ a cement mixer and rather better quality wellingtons but the ideas, suggestions and information is really good should you have any form of old cobb, dry wall, loose stone built structure.

Don't underestimate the amount of work it takes! This slim volume is concise and interesting. I would like it to have come with a team of helpers.
