Biography

Coat of Arms – Full Frontal Assault
Even though the band had been touring extensively, the creative process never ceased and the band were almost ready for the recording of their next album “Coat of Arms” in the end of 2009.
During the latter part of 2009 the band had reached out to their fans and asked them to send in ideas for battles to sing about and the fans responded with thousands of mails,… Read more in Amazon's Sabaton Store

Crank it up Metal ! 30 July 2010
Format:Audio CD
This is definitely one of those albums that any hard metal fan should have in their collection. Powerful riffs, growling vocals yet at the heart of it some foot stomping thunderous music.

For me I am thinking it sounds a cross between Hammerfall, UDO, Judas Priest. Thoroughly enjoyed the album, it's just that type of music you want to crank up the max volume and enjoy.

Got to be worth a listen, you will be glad you did if you like power metal.

Sabaton are still going from strength to strength. Coat Of Arms is another fantastic album which follows in the footsteps of The Art Of War, Primo Victoria (my all time favourite), Artero Dominatus, Metalizer and of course Fist For Fight.

If you've not encountered Sabaton you're missing out. If you want the hairs on the back of your neck to stand to attention, and if you're a fan of Heavy Metal and appreciate intelligent song writing (brilliant lyrics) accompanied with rock solid musicianship, then this (and all the band's other albums) is/are for you. Sabaton has been a 'best kept secret' in the UK for far too long now. The band more than deserves to be heard at any and every opportunity.

In fact they are also touring Europe in the autumn with some UK dates included, so as well as buying the albums you could do with getting along to one of their shows, for the full-on Sabaton experience. The only thing missing now is a live double album....how about it gents?

Sabaton - Coat of Arms 4 Aug 2010
By thepaxdomini - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
"Coat of Arms" (2010) is the sixth album by Swedish power metal band Sabaton. On the whole, it's more of the same here. If you're familiar with their previous work, you know you're getting heavy, aggressive metal, Joakim Broden's deep, gravelly vocals, and historically-educational military-oriented lyrics.

"Coat of Arms," however, is more musically interesting than Sabaton's previous release, "The Art of War." There isn't a whole lot of variety (not that we listen to metal for variety), but the melodies are better and, refreshingly, there's nothing obviously lifted from any of their previous works.

Overall, there's nothing here that will blow you away, but it's a pretty solid album.

Sabaton marches on! 31 July 2010
By Justin Gaines - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Swedish power metal soldiers Sabaton are back with Coat of Arms, their sixth studio offering. I enjoyed their 2008 album Attero Dominatus, but it wasn't until I caught these guys live at ProgPower USA last year that I really became a fan. The band has a tremendous energy on stage, and seeing them stomp their way through a high-octane set makes you really appreciate their brand of power metal.

Sabaton is more or less a mixture of Running Wild style melodic, anthemic power metal with Bolt Thrower's military themes. The Coat of Arms album, for example, is all about World War II. They have great galloping leads, marching rhythms and powerful, forceful vocals. Musically Sabaton isn't all that far removed from the typical power metal sound. They just have a militaristic approach that sets them apart from the genre's usual dragonslayers. Highlights on Coat of Arms include "Uprising," "Wehrmacht" and "Metal Ripper," (love the intro to Priest's "The Ripper" there!) though there really aren't any weak songs to be found. That's probably the upside of it being a relatively brief album.

There isn't much on Coat of Arms that you wouldn't find on earlier Sabaton releases, but it's still a high quality power metal album that should more than please the band's growing legion (battalion?) of fans. If you're new to the band but enjoy melodic power metal, Coat of Arms makes a great first Sabaton album. Chances are you'll soon enlist!

Another strong offering from Sabaton. 10 July 2010
By Thomas Anderson - Published on Amazon.com

I'll keep this brief...

If you're a fan of Sabaton, you pretty much know what to expect with a Sabaton album. A driving, stomping, power metal album with gruff vocals sung to war themes with keyboard and choir backing. Right? Well, I must say that I believe that this album is Sabaton's heaviest in both guitar sound and strength of sound field. This album focuses on WWII specifically. I've read a review on another site that said the guitar sound was low (weak), but I don't know what album he wa listening to. If anything the guitars overpower every other instrument including the drums.

So in closing here, if you're a fan of Sabaton, don't hestitate to get this album. It's as good as any of their others, if not slightly better than, oh, take your pick. If you're new to the band, this is as good an album to start with. So if you like a little history with your metal, grab Coat of Arms and don't look back. It's a great listen.
