5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Book On Navigation Techniques, 4 Oct 2003
By Andrew Moore "island dweller" (Cowes, Isle of Wight, UK) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
‘Coastal and Offshore Navigation’ is an excellent insight into safe passage planning and navigation. I have cruised extensively using nothing more than the techniques explained in this book. I must admit I did know how to navigate quite well before reading this book but this is a very useful book to refer back to when you have forgotten how to interpolate on the first outing of the new season!

Tom Cunliffe writes in an easy to understand manner and I found reading this book to be a pleasure rather than a head scratching exercise.

I would like to give you more detail on chapters, topics covered etc, but my copy resides in the bookcase over the chart table! Well worth reading. Buy.

Andy Moore

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for beginners, 13 May 2009

This is a very good book but it does assume a certain level of knowledge. I have just bought my first boat and want to learn about navigation basics and this is not the book for that purpose.
