These maps are clear and easy to use. The detail such as where to eat and drink and the location of car parks make them a great help in the planning stage and the water proof covering make them practical on the walk itself in our unpredictable summers!
The scale is good and the alternative routes for either the brave fell climbers or the not-so-brave short cut seekers are clearly marked.

We have completed the first section of Wainwrights Coast to Coast walk using Harveys Coast to Coast west map which we were very impressed with and for us, the Eastern map is a must to get the most out of the walk.
This is a strip map with all the geographical detail you could wish for as well as useful information boxes on Accommodation, camping, Access, weather etc.
If you have Wainwrights pictorial guide and Harveys map - you have everything you need for one of the best long-distance walks in Britain!

No complaint about the maps themselves. Coast to Coast on just two maps rather than 8/9 OS ... weight saving. Key to me though is that OS provides a wider understanding of the area, vital both from a safety point of view and enjoying the walk from a wider country side perspective and understanding what you are passing, walking through and seeing

It will save having to carry many maps .

Like all Harvey's maps it has a page for a day's walk and it's easy to read and printed on waterproof paper and in a handy plastic pocket. It fits in my trouser leg pocket so is handy to look at. It has all the normal OS details. It saves buying lots of full-size OS maps for a long distance walk.

On a walk as long as the Coast to Coast, it isn't practical to carry a bag full of OS maps. the Harvey's series is perfect. Clear and detailed mapping of the route with lots of additional information for the walker. Use in conjunction with the Aurum press guide and you need nothing else, other than two weeks in which to do the walking.

Both of these maps are very good quality showing just about the perfect amount of information for this journey. They would have been more use if we had purchased them before planning where to stay during the coast to coast as they give a good visual representation of the distances involved in each leg of the walk.
The maps themselves are printed on plastic and so are completely waterproof and very tear resistant. Some of the previous reviews seem to suggest that the maps are printed on thin paper, this is not the case.
Used in combination with Wainwright's book these maps are the perfect accompaniment to anyone planning the Coast to Coast.
