This is a new edition of the classic photographic book containing the walk A. Wainwright devised in 1973, covering rights of way and areas of open access between the Irish sea and the North Sea. The route starts at St Bees Head and finishes at Robin Hood Bay, passing through three National Parks: the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors, all areas of outstanding beauty. Providing a wide and varied range of scenery with changing landscapes over a distance of 190 miles, it is one of the most challenging of long-distance walks.
The text has been updated to take account of minor changes in the terrain and the result is not merely the most beautiful but also the most authoritative and useful book on the much loved Coast to Coast walk.

This is a very interesting book and well written with excellent photographs and will be especially useful to anyone undertaking the coast to coast walk.
The only reason why this book does not get 5 stars is that the standard of the colour prints is poor when compared with other books by Wainwright and Brabbs. It is important to understand the point I am making in that the book is good and worth getting but in the case of my copy is let down by the printing standards of the photographs and in no way a criticism of Derry Brabbs who is one of the top Landscape photographers in the country.
The only reason why this book does not get 5 stars is that the standard of the colour prints is poor when compared with other books by Wainwright and Brabbs. It is important to understand the point I am making in that the book is good and worth getting but in the case of my copy is let down by the printing standards of the photographs and in no way a criticism of Derry Brabbs who is one of the top Landscape photographers in the country.

Beautiful pictures, gives a real feel for the landscape. Much to big to carry, but we hope it will bring back memories after we have completed the walk in the spring.

Bought as a gift for a Canadian relative. A perfect introductiion to the northern British landscape with wonderful photographs as well as some of Wainright's original maps and good descriptions of the walk itself. Very well received.
