4.0 out of 5 stars Coaching Yourself to Leadership, 8 Oct 2007
By Tami Brady "Whole Health Therapist" (Calgary, Canada) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
The basic philosophy of Coaching Yourself to Leadership: 5 Key Strategies for Becoming an Integrated Leader is that "leadership develops internally beginning with a deep understanding of the self, and blossoms externally from learning how to empathize, engage, and communicate with others".

As this phrase might suggest, this book looks at leadership from a "feminine" perspective. There are two main reasons for this particular focus. Firstly, females in leadership situations often try to emulate male role models often ignoring their own potential leadership strengths. Secondly, the benefits of such "feminine skills" is largely an untapped resource for both male and female leaders alike.

Coaching Yourself to Leadership: 5 Key Strategies for Becoming an Integrated Leader is unique as it encourages leaders to understand their own values, motives, and vision for success in any given act. This strategy reduces a good deal of frustration, clutter, and waste that normally occurs when leaders try to create a particular vision while unknowingly moving in the wrong direction and unconsciously fighting against themselves and their fellow workers. Definitely worth a read.
