Product Description

Review

"The book is a great list of coaching techniques and suggestions. In my opinion, the addition of therapeutic perspectives has a lot of potential for deepening the coaching process and so could provide long-lasting change for coaching clients. I expect the book to be very helpful for people working as coaches; counsellors working with EAPs or other short-term counselling might also find some of the activities useful." - Sue Lewis, Therapy Today, October 2010

"Practitioners, coaches, managers, marketers, counsellors, politicians, public figures and non-scholars will learn from this book. No prerequisites are needed. Coaches who have to train players, new employees (or teenagers) will find here some inspiration, just like young parents who have to manage a crisis."— Yves Laberge, Division of Clinical Psychology

An excellent resource for coaches. I have read a great many coaching books over the last few years all of which offer great theory but little or no practical advice and steps to put the theory into practice. I found this a quick and easy read, and a great resource to dip into when inspiration is needed.

With so many coaching books available shelf space can be an issue but it's worth making room for this new book on the block. Drawing on experience of 'what works' the 101 strategies and techniques are a great way for coaches to either pick up new stuff or remind themselves of resources they have used in the past. Nicely arranged it's an good book to dip into when inspiration is needed.

When somebody does not have time to dip into heavy volumes of coaching expertise to find interesting practical tools directly available to put in practice, this book comes in the front line instantly.

With all strategies and techniques developed clearly and concisely in no more than five pages each, this book is a real gem.

Very valuable.

This is a good "starter" book for those looking for basic coaching skills. Notes at the end of each strategy/technique are useful for further information on the topics. If you are new to coaching then it will be a useful book. For a more experienced coach, you'll probably find the book quite basic.

I cannot thank the authors enough for this extremely helpful book. I am in the early stages of my coaching journey and so curently developing my style. As part of my training and whilst developing my niche, I am coaching all kinds of people in different contexts with different needs: from life coaching, work-based issues, confidence, stress, personality style, leadership and career change.

This book has been a valuable resource to access when looking for new tools to coach the different needs of unique individuals. It has allowed me to tailor sessions whilst also stretching myself and my clients. I may end up only utilising 30 or so suggestions, but that's okay!

Thank you both for writing the most useful 'quick-check' practical coaching book for the developing coach.

The depth of this book is commendable. I really like the way it is set out so that you can 'dive into' the sections that you want at relevant times. It encourages you to strengthen and develop your practice whilst reflecting. Also important are the 'pit falls' and safety warnings to be aware of. A must read.
