Product Description

From the Back Cover

The single most important skill in coaching is asking powerful questions. An incisive question posed at just the right moment can be a life-changing experience.

In this volume, master coach trainer Tony Stoltzfus joins with 12 other professional coaches to present dozens of valuable asking tools, models and exercises, and illustrates them with over 1,000 examples of penetrating coaching questions. Covering the gamut from basic techniques like options and actions to advanced concepts such as challenge and reframing, Coaching Questions is a book that will find a home on any coach's short list of handy references.

Instead of just offering a list of questions, this book connects the examples with the coaching tool they are used with and their place in the coaching conversation, making it a reference guide you'll return to again and again. Coaching Questions: A Coach's Guide to Powerful Asking Skills includes:

1. The top ten asking mistakes coaches make, and how to correct each one
2. Nearly 1200 examples of powerful questions from real coaching situations
3. Destiny discovery tools organized in a four-part life-purpose model that includes passion, design, experience and calling
4. Overviews of 15 popular coaching niches, with a tool and examples for each
6. A schedule of training exercises to help you become a "Master of Asking"

Albeit there are some good chapters, the majority of the book was not what I really needed or thought would be included. Would not recommend as a book for creating coaching questions or providing a reference book for potential coaching conversations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Questions reflexion 8 April 2011
By JB
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Good outline of questions layed-out in a simple and useful format of circumstances.
Makes you think. Gives you insight.
You may already know many of these, but it helps you expand your knowledge with other perspectives.
Need to read slowly to gain full benefit.

If your interested in hands on questions and an outline of different circumstances, it is a good buy.

This book did what it said on the cover and was a great asset whilst I was training to be a life coach. I found I had the basic questions already but this one went way beyond that & allowed me to really understand my client/ coachee. I know I will continue to use this in my developing practice.
