Review

""""One of the few books on sport psychology that has ever impressed us. Written simply but absorbingly, disdaining cant and high-blown technical terms, the author zeros right in . . . Martens has a great sense of what is important and what is real, plus the ability to communicate it."""
Scholastic Coach
"""Contains great information, is thought provoking and should be part of every coach's library so he/she may better understand the psychological side of sport."""

This book is excellent in its content for both the experienced and novice coach in all sports. The book is broken into simple to read and understand chapters that deal with all aspects of sports psychology, making the subject easy to understand. The content of the book encourages the reader to think about and analyse situations that develop between althlete and coach and helps the reader to understand how these situations develop and how to bring out the best of in the athletes under the charge of the coach. Having completed a recent course in sports psychology access to this book would have helped greatly. Excellent read from cover to cover.

3.0 out of 5 stars For psychologists more than for coaches 24 Feb 2013
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
The product was delivered in a timely fashion and in a good condition.

I would say that the book content is more appropriate for a sport psychology student than for a coach as it is more theoretical and general than practical.
