Book Description

24 Mar 2009
This is a practical guide designed to allow readers to coach themselves in much the same way as they would be coached professionally were they to employ a coach. Readers are given direct access to many of the psychological tools that professional coaches use. Throughout the book readers are constantly encouraged to investigate and evaluate how they can apply the book to their own lives and careers. The book is interactively designed so that readers can easily dip in and out of chapters and whole sections and immediately start applying the principles to their own circumstances. It is an invaluable book for personal use and also as a guide for the coaching of others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Coaching for Success 9 Aug 2010
Format:Paperback
I've just read this book whilst on holiday and I have to say that I found it a really helpful and accessible insight into coaching and how it can benefit the individual and the organisation. It also works as a self help guide.
One reviewer identifies that it doesn't go into great depth on the psychological elements of coaching and change but I think that misses the point of this particular book. It gives some practical advice, tools and support without suggesting that it's easy to coach effectively.
I would certainly recommend anyone who coaches, particularly in business, to read this book as part of their ongoing development.

4.0 out of 5 stars Practical and Engaging 19 May 2010
By Brian Carney VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Tom Preston is an interesting guy with an interesting and varied background, ranging from commodity trading in Africa to private equity investments in the Far East. It's a fair assumption, therefore, that if he chose to give up that life to become a professional, full time coach then he probably has some interesting things to say ........ and he does! This book is relatively easy reading and practical, rather than overtly academic in its approach. Tom has developed a very successful, international coaching business and he is very open and generous in sharing how he achieved his successes. If you ever get the opportunity to meet with Tom or to attend one of his presentations it's well worth a few hours of your time. There are lots of people put there who will share their theories on coaching practice with you. There are less credible sources of practical advice on turning all that knowledge into a successful business - Tom Preston is one of them.
