Nick is a newly-single, twenty-eight year old New York playboy, who lives off a trust fund and spends his time partying and playing football. He's a slacker who's lost his ambitious and beautiful girlfriend, Zoe (a glamour model), and so he decides that he needs to do something with his life, in order to win back his estranged lover. Hugh Dancy (one of the stars of the TV show Hannibal) plays Nick.
He applies for and obtains a job as a High School football coach. The team he inherits is a bunch of under-achievers, nerds, misfits, overweight kids and chippy juveniles. Their footballing skills leave a lot to be desired. However, one of the thirteen year old children, Hector, has a touch of the George Best in his feet. As time progresses, Nick becomes a mentor to the wayward boy...
Hector gets injured at a match and Nick takes him to a local hospital. The treating doctor, Gabrielle, is a very attractive, twenty-something lady, who has an immediate chemistry with Nick. Nick asks her along to a football game and she accepts the invite. She doesn't show up, but this doesn't deter Nick from endeavouring to win her heart...
This film has a gentle and laid back style, and it quite reminded me of About A Boy (Hugh Grant) - About a Boy [Blu-ray] [2002]. It's about friendship and fresh starts, finding goals in life as well as on the football pitch, and it works well on several levels. The chemistry between Nick and Gabrielle is palpable. The child actors give superb and touching performances. Hugh Dancy's performance is first rate as he covers a whole gamut of emotions. The film score is nicely judged and very cool. All in all, it's a warm, satisfying, adroitly constructed, slightly melancholy but, more often, feel-good movie.

Good film the actors/actresses play a good part, basically about a single man whom has never really grown up, all his mates are in work /married with kids etc, he just plays football and goes to pub and gets drunk, he barely spends time with his girlfriend , so she leaves him, so to get her back he decides to get a job, so he takes on coaching a kids football team, he doesn't really like kids much but only takes the job to impress his ex and get her back, but what turned out to be a rubbish team he turns around, and gets attached to the kids, not going into too much he meets someone and grows up,I wont tell you anymore you should buy it its worth it, i'd watch it again.

Lame yet amusing movie, about growing up and taking responsibility.

Nick only took the job to get his girl back, but gets more than he bargained for. Turning not only a bunch of losers into winners, he turns his own life around getting a new girl in the process.
