Revel in a movie in which the manifold women aren't nasty or jealous to each other and enjoy a largely good-humoured piece of history in the making. Another for the girl's cult collection

A wonderful and surprising rediscovery, Jaques Deval's
Club De Femmes is a picture to reve in. A jolly, witty comedy set in a women-only Parisian boarding house, the film follows a group of lone female residents apparently seeking protection form the man-filled world outside, but most of them spend considerable time trying to engineer meetings with the enemy..... Classic farce mixed with a dash of screwball, the film's liberal sensibility goes so far as to introduce a leading lesbian role, and even makes jokes at the expense of an illegitimate baby. Needless to say, these progressive touches were more than enough to aggravate scissors-wielding censors woldwide, and it is only in the last two decades that the film has been able to be enjoyed uncut.
