Thoroughly enjoyed this book, full of fascinating facts and insights into atmospheric phenomena, to be honest you don't look at the world in quite the same way again: looking for frost-free areas beneath trees, glories and mixing clouds everywhere. Also some answers to questions that I had never thought about: if the distance to the horizon arises from attenuation, how come you can see stars at night?
That said, the reason for 4 rather than 5 stars, is that I think anybody who does not have some sort of a scientific background might struggle with this book; its a delight to somebody like myself who does have such a background, but might be a bit much to wade through for somebody who doesn't.
I'm also using it as a primer for looking at the science of Global warming as the Section on this seems to me to be relatively unbiased.
