Product Description

Product Description

Reprinted by the John Charnley Trust, the original text having been out of print for many years, this beautifully presented book deals very simply and scientifically with most of the difficult fractures an orthopaedic surgeon is likely to meet in his/her practice. Despite the fact that the original text was published in 1950, the basic principles espoused in the book still apply today, and it remains one of the most concise and complete books on closed fracture treatment ever written. This core textbook has been basic reference for orthopaedic surgeons for half a century. It describes the elementary mechanics of reduction and immobilisation and shows how the commonest injuries can be managed by proven methods based on these general principles. It is a must for anyone embarking on a career in orthopaedics and is a classic text that all orthopaedic trainees and consultants should have on their shelves.

IT is over thirty years since Arbuthnot Lane published his Operative Treatment of Fractures; but we still cannot compare conservative and operative principles from the viewpoint of basic science because the fundamental nature of fracture repair still eludes us. Read the first page

By A Customer
A beautifully presented book which deals very simply and scientifically most of the difficult fractures an orthopaedic surgeon meets with in his/her practice. It is a must for all embarking on a career in orthopaedics. I recommend that the book be read and studied early in one's career.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for all doctors practicing Orthopaedics, 2 Jan 2001
By A Customer
This is one of the most concise and complete books on closed fracture treatment ever written. As a trainee Orthopaedic Surgeon I found this to be my saviour. I still refer to this book occationally and use the simple pictures and diagrams in my lectures to students and trainees. I highly recommend this book to all doctors who want to practice Orthopaedics as their speciality.
