Similarly with Symphony X one of the other massively underated prog metal virtuoso kings, Threshold i have only just found, probably becouse of the minimal time prog metal gets in the metal press, mainly metal hammer and kerrang. This was my first album i bought of Threshold, i currently have another, the other being "psychedicatessen" and boy will i be buying more!
Clone is an umbelivably good album both in immediate impact and appeal and the striking musicianship underneath.
Make no mistake about it Clone is right up there with the best Prog metal can offer, personally i am absolutely amazed there are no other reviews here, mind you it's very rare to find anywhere amazon's is an import!
The closest thing i can describe this to as being would have to be Symphony X "Divine wings of Tragedy" if you have it, otherwise what you have here is 9 5-9 extended minute semi epics, containing pretty much everything you would expect to find in a prog metal album, namely mellow atmospheric tunes regularly broken into thunderous but very good raw guitar riffs, complimenting very infectious chorus lines, vocally it's very strong and mellow and flows with the music majestically.
In Clone you'll find exceptionally good production to match the awsomely good music, unfortunately i can't compare this to other Threshold CD's as i don't have them all, needless to say on it's own merits it stands mighty tall, Threshold is the UK's answer to across the atlantic to long island in the US, these guys are excellent and it's only a matter of time before they become big mark my words.
This album is fantasic, buy with confidence all prog metalheads this is a fine damn addition to your collection as any, you will not be disapointed.
An absolute must buy! easy 5 stars.
