I have been using this clicker to train my dog since we first got her at 8 weeks old. She is now 10 months and extremely obedient being able to do all the standard stuff such as sit, lie, stay, stop, come, paw, watch me, roll over etc.
Using the clicker method of training she learned extremely quickly and it was fun for us both. I would far rather use such a positive method of training than some of the older, stricter methods that in the past were commonly used.
This multi clicker is excellent. Its smooth, rounded edges mean that it is comfortable to hold for long periods of time and it fits just right into the palm of your hand. It is made from a lightweight plastic but it well made and sturdy; mine has lasted me 8 months so far and it is used on a daily basis.
There is a small button on the front of the clicker that you press to make a noise when your dog successfully completes the behaviour you have requested. It is important that you click the very second they do the behaviour, don't let time lapse as they have such short attention spans. You can give a treat after you have clicked. Over time it is a good idea to reduce the number of treats but still click to reinforce the behaviour - dogs do forget if not constantly reminded.
What I like about this particular clicker is that there is a volume control on the back and you can adjust a slider button to make the click noise louder or quieter. Dogs have such good hearing that the quiet noise is more than adequate when you are at home or in a quiet environment. I only use the loud setting when outside and there are a lot of distractions around. I do find that the button is much stiffer to press when it is set to the loud volume. Whereas when it is on the quieter volume it takes almost no strength to depress the clicker.
There is a handy elasticated wrist strap which enables you to keep the clicker attached to your wrist during a training session or whilst outside.
Overall, I am really pleased that I purchased this clicker. It has stood up well to continued use and I can't imagine using any other training method now with my dog.
